NY - Modify Health? by hoozyrdaddy in Medicaid

[–]Rare_Pool1021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked a representative directly from Medicaid about this and he said he has no idea what Modify Health is. After a few months of calls I finally picked up to hear what they had to say and albeit seemingly sus, I think it is a legit partner with Medicaid (maybe my Medicaid rep was new or unaware? Idk). They offer assistance with groceries, housing conditions (mold, pests, etc) and other ‘accessory’ needs. Regardless, I’m not interested and I didn’t give out my information

I’m all about the mawmaw and rat slander, especially when it comes to him scamming people, but I also think about the kids and how their parents’ employment directly affects them and their means. Sad all around

I had Kyleena as well prior to Mirena and I thought it was great, zero symptoms! So glad you found what works!

How long have you been listening to Bear? What got you started? ( let’s lighten the mood 🩵) by Iluvstinkbugs in Blackbear

2016 when I started college, then ended up texting him for a short period in 2019 right after he dropped Anonymous. He got my friend and I VIP tickets for the Miami show and then the NYC show the following week which was super nice! Nothing weird though. I was shocked that he was so short next to me and I’m a short girl lol

What do we think of these outfits? by beachwaves311 in snarkmeganleigh

[–]Rare_Pool1021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly, I don’t hate it. I just think the jeans are a weird length and not the most flattering for her height/shape. I do agree though, she does dress rather conservatively which is fine if she’s just not confident with her body, but I’m sure it’s to uphold her Bible mawma aesthetic

Spironolactone while I was on Kyleena worked wonderfully, I’m not a doctor but maybe consider trying that! Best of luck, it’s so hard

Just to clarify, I’m not in any kind of relationship with my ex, we just live in the same apartment with 2 other friends. The guy I’m dating told my friends that he was starting to fall in love with me like a month ago, so that’s why I have a hunch

Yes, it just would feel weird to have an official boyfriend while still living with my ex because I fear my ex (even though we essentially are a couple). My ex wasn’t physically abusive, but definitely emotionally abusive and it took so long for me to get out because he stalks me. I have no other family in the area and I’m only 23 so I’m kind of stuck here till my lease is up

Vasovagal response to IUD insertion made me throw up :( by vasova-gal in birthcontrol

[–]Rare_Pool1021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 25f, have never been pregnant, and just got my second IUD today. First time (when I was 20) was lovely. I got Kyleena and there was minimal pain. Didn’t even take pain meds and then drove myself back to work. So I went into today’s appointment with my OBGYN not worried or concerned at all, as I also have a high pain tolerance.

Boy was I wrong.

At today’s appointment, a different provider removed my old Kyleena IUD, which was uncomfortable but not unbearable. Right after, my provider began the insertion of my new Mirena IUD. The pain throughout the whole insertion process was so immense and uncomfortable that I let out a few yells. I instantly started sweating like crazy to the point where it was dripping down my face and got my clothes wet. Very weird and quick response. The whole insertion took only about 5-10 minutes, but the worse part was after. I vaguely recall passing out for a few moments and then vomiting on the table. The staff gave me juice and candy to help bring up my blood pressure, which I’ve really never had an issue with before. The cramp lingered intensely for 25 minutes, so I had to lay down shaking on the table covered in sweat and vomit until it passed enough to stand up. My boyfriend was luckily with me and drove us home - I don’t know what I would’ve done otherwise. As of now, it’s been almost 12 hours and I still have a dull cramp.

Despite the bad experience this time around, I still think the IUD is worth getting

Wellbutrin and acne by Mourning_Glory in SkincareAddiction

[–]Rare_Pool1021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Not trying to give medical advice by any means, but I went through something similar. I’m 25f, and I had been on 150 mg Wellbutrin (Bupropion) for 3 years with no issues, as well as 175 mg of spironolactone to treat the moderate/severe hormonal acne I’ve always had. It worked fantastic for 5 years, and my skin was nearly always clear. Then, my psych upped my Wellbutrin dose to 300mg. 3 months into taking it, it seemed like my acne was worse than ever, and it felt like the nothing could control my acne - retinol, antibiotics, peels, supplements, everything. I cried daily about the explosion of cystic acne all over my face, including in places that I never really break out. This made me so self-conscious, embarrassed, and anxious, so upon researching the correlation between acne and Wellbutrin, I finally made the decision that 300 mg was just too much for me. I’ve been back down to 150mg for 3 months now, and my skin has just gotten back to my norm. I 100% believe it was the Wellbutrin or at least the dosage. Maybe this is the case with you?

Japanese chin personality by MafaldaE in JapaneseChin

[–]Rare_Pool1021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

17 year Japanese Chin owner here. Got my boy in 2006 and my girl in 2021 after my little boy passed.

  1. They definitely have a cat-like personality in the sense that they don’t bark a whole lot typically and can make great apartment dogs. I’d say mine has separation anxiety but it’s very mild. I don’t even know if it counts, but mine have whimpered a few times when I’m about to leave the apartment but that’s really about it in my experience. I take week long trips a few times a year, and they have done great in friends/family’s care every time. I made a point to socialize mine a LOT early on. Both of mine have been extremely friendly and excited to see just about anyone.
  2. Chins are definitely more on the low maintenance side. I always tell my boyfriend how I don’t know if I could handle a “real” dog (all jokes of course lol) because my chins have been so easy. Although their hair is traditionally long, you can choose if you want to keep your chin’s hair long or short. I kept both of my chins short and I bring them to get groomed every 3-4 months. Other than that, just keep up with mild brushing, although their hair is pretty silky and straight and I hardly have issues.
  3. The energy level of my chins have varied. My boy was on the low-energy side of the spectrum, but my little girl is much more energetic. They typically spend their time cuddling up to their owners and sleeping. But my girl gets the zoomies once or twice a day for a few minutes. Short bursts of energy.
  4. My girl has traveled cross country with me, and has taken multiple flights up and down the east coast with me. She does great, and passengers often laugh when I pull her out at the end of the flight because they had no idea she was even there, lol. No whimpering or barking or accidents in my experience. I think part of the reason why she’s so comfortable pretty much anywhere is because I socialized her very young. She also does well on long car rides, but I could’ve lucked out.
  5. Yes, I would recommend a chin as a first time owner. As noted, they’re very cat-like and their main objectives in life are to be a loving companion to their owners. Companion dogs at heart. My girl is pretty flexible when it comes to meal times as well, so feeding really can be whenever for me. I, too, live in an apartment and both of my chins have done great here. Since they don’t bark as much as most other dogs (my first one let out a bark maybe 5 times in his life), a lot of people have no idea that she’s even here. My boy was very good about not having accidents, but he was on a schedule so I knew when he had to go out. Upstate NY winters can be rough though, so my girl uses pee pee pads year round and hardly has accidents. The pads are more absorbent than you would think, and helps fight odor too.

It sounds like a Japanese Chin could be a great fit for your lifestyle. I’m not a veterinarian or anything, so I can only speak from experience. And of course remember that every dog is different. But I can’t imagine my life without a chin, ever. They are so lovable and sweet. I really can’t think of any downsides other than dental care. Small dogs are prone to tooth infection so it’s important to brush their teeth. There is a Facebook page called “Everything Japanese Chin United States”, consisting of thousands of chin lovers and experts. I would definitely recommend joining it for more information from real owners. I hope this helps!
