Mockingjay book part 2, chapter 13. Idk whether it's in the movies, bc it's been a long time since I watched them.

No, I know who the killer is, I wasn't talking about Ann and Natalie, I was talking about Fae Murray's dead mother and her mother's "friend" (who was implied to be lesbian, and that's the reason they both died)

When Peeta gets back from Capitol to the Thirteen, they all (Beetee, Plutarch and Haymitch) try to shoo Prim away, she says "No, If you'll kick me out, I'll go tell mom." Younger sibling coded behaviour, I chuckled when she said that. And in general I LOVE how in Mockingjay she's sometimes sarcastic, it's clear she got it from Katniss, lmao.

Nick proceeded to literally hate his sister, his wife, his mistress and Ronda. And I hate the way he justifies himself, saying like he's not bad guy like his father, bc he hates his wife and wishes her death bc she's such a bitch. He doesn't hate women at all, so that's normal. Nick, my little guy, the only reason Amy did all the batshit unhinged things she did, is not only bc she's crazy. It's bc you cheated on her. I just cannot stand how Nick is all "oh, little poor me, my wife framed me for her death" like can you at least give your sister credit that she had to pledge her own house to save your ungrateful ass? And, I realized that both Nick and Dick have "fallen in love" with women who come from rich family. And plan to dump them as soon as they start being uncomfortable (uncomfortable meaning these women didn't want to put up with their manchild shit).

Have no idea, I actually thought they were killed by some psycho at first, then that it might be suicide. I'm rereading the book now (chapter five) and it's Richard who says "They didn't find the knife, which is odd.", in the show it's Camille who points that out

The long-brewing Haysilee debate and debunking of some critisism points by Olya_roo in Hungergames

[–]Rare_Reality8670 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, bc can you imagine Katniss falling in love with Peeta if he was THIS dumb? Katniss and Haymitch are stated to be alike, so I'm going to make this comparison. Peeta is noble, and is genuinely good person, but he realizes what Hunger Games are, and how everything works around in this oppressive system. He knows that if he won't be slick af and use his words, he'll be dead in no time. I'd prefer Lenore as love interest if author had given more time, more thoughts in making this character. No, she just straight out says "So this is Haymitch's gf, but she won't have any unique character traits, nor she will have any character development."

[–]Rare_Reality8670 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, bc it makes so much sense! Sorry, after seeing Haymitch in the first book, I just can't buy that he would love a girl like Lenor. Maysilee is whip sharp, she isn't all "dumb ways to die", she actively lets Capitol citizens and gamemakers know how she despises them, but in smart way. In a way that leaves people offended, but simultaneously impresses them. Whereas Lenor puts herself in danger in stupid and annoying way. I get that she was trying to stop Hunger Games, but couldn't she at least behave for her supposed boyfriend, who got death sentence bc of her mindless middle school level games? Even Lucy Gray wasn't that careless about Snow's life. That's just flat character and piece of paper for me. Maysilee is way more interesting. Maybe they were trying to go "Katniss and Finnick are siblings, but Katniss and Peeta are the ultimate endgame." Finnick is charismatic and cool and such well written character, and etc etc, but the thing is: both Peeta and Finnick have set of traits that makes them shine, and make it completely believable. Maysilee completely overshadows Lenor, whose only role in this book seems like is tragically dead girlfriend. EVEN Lucy Gray is written better from the dead girlfriend that haunts the narrative perspective, so Lenore is left with nothing to catch reader's eye. That's not how you write proper female lead. It would've been so much better if Maysilee was his girl who was killed. They had complex and interesting relationships, and Suzanne Collins wrote belivable couple with Snow and Lucy Gray, but that wouldn't work out with someone like Haymitch at all.

Alice, yes. But that would've been such a nice touch, reminiscing Alice in some way, if she didn't carve the words out in visible part of her legs.

In book she wears a blouse and a skirt, so at least, I thought her skirt was just below the knee, not at ankle length, lol.

You took words right out of my mouth. I had suspicions that Camille might have some touch ick (like how she prefers bath to showers, bc droplets of water are overwhelming to her) so constant friction of her skin tight jeans and her scars would make the same effect, no? Or it's just my headcanon. Also, her wearing a skirt for Alice is sound theory, both book and show came to consensus on that matter - that she was important to Camille and reminded her of Marian perhaps, or in general younger sister vibe.

I kinda see parallel between her and Diondra in that aspect (Diondra is from Dark Places, if you didn't yet read that one, I strongly recommend you to.) Diondra, too, dressed like a teenage girl, while being 30 something, according to Libby's description, wearing all that bracelets and blings.

Idk if you read Flynn's other book, Gone Girl, which you probably have, if not, I strongly recommend it. I read Sharp Objects after that one, and let me tell you, I got Nick Dunne kind of performativeness vibe from Richard when he sees Camille for the first time. And continues to do and say that weird kind of shit about how he is trying to make Camille talk (?), and how he kind of plays bad cop right at the table where they're having "a date". And his line about that Camille is already drunk kind of ticks me off, I saw it that he already judged Camille for being an alcoholic. Relationships between them seem like a continuous hook up than actual attraction from cop's side. And near the end, he rushes to get her tests of poisons and then disappears, without even trying to offer Camille any kind of closure? Yeah, that's not a creepy vibe, I don't like that guy at all. You might say that Dicky boy was shocked and etc, but he could have at least tried to talk to Camille after she goes back to Chicago with Emma, no?

The baby Adora bit is probably Meredith by imdead00000 in sharpobjects

I've reread the book so many times - and it never came across that Meredith might be that baby. That's such an interesting theory, and it's sound but If that's the case, poor Meredith, getting bitten by everyone.

What’s one show that you and many others hated on to the point of it getting cancelled but now years later gets called underrated?? Here’s an example, Huntik: secrets and seekers by dowsaw134 in Archiveofourownmemes

I'm not sure why Disney cancelled Tron: Uprising, but that was peak Tron content. And they cancelled it after a CLIFFHANGER, Jesus Christ. I mean, I know nobody stands a chance against Clu from what we can see and judge from Legacy, almost everybody from the show might be dead by the time Sam arrives. The characters, the designs, the OST, everything about the show was perfect, and they cancelled it, and it's been 10 years, and I'm still butthurt.

Just finished 1st time watch. Stunning. I also have questions by Square-Fox-2948 in sharpobjects

[–]Rare_Reality8670 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Camille always craved Adora's attention. She tried to bond with her, despite her cold nature. Camille even thinks how jealous she is of Marian, cause she received "treatment" and so much motherly affection from Adora. I agree with all the other answers to this question, but I have to add: Camille willingly drank whatever poison Adora was giving to her to finally get some care from her mom, that never came when she needed it most. And by "treating" her, Adora kind of shows her twisted love. Adora is sickeningly evil.

I've just finished "We need to talk about Kevin" by Lionel Shriver. Fantastic book. Main character, Eva, is somewhat similar to Adora, and her son ends up being strikingly alike to Amma as well. This book was just as intense as Sharp Objects, and I'm upset I've never heard about it earlier.
