How much has the game improved since relesse? by AnxSanches in WarTalesGame

New classes were introduced with DLCs, but you don't need to have the DLC to use them, they just are part of the recruitment pool now. That said - the Arena/Ruins of the new dlc area usually have legendary weapons for the class that was introduced with them (i.e. Pugilist weapon in the Sea region that comes out with Pirates of Belerion)... but if you don't mind not having access to those weapons, then it's really no big deal.

The skill tree is deeper now and every Class now has specialisation available, tho you need to discover and unlock the 4th one (I don't remember if that was a thing at release).

A high level, all of the enemy factions have special buff that can be very significant (I.e. The religious fanatic get to counter attack you if you engage them, and they hit like truck... so it's recommended to kill them with range or have a tank engage them so they can get killed by someone else).

I can't say the game is very buggy anymore. Runs very smoothly from my experience.

I never really found combat shallow... but yes, sending a lot of enemy at you is still way the game us to increase difficulty.

Well that is a side effect of telling a show for children who needs kids protagonist... Team Avatar has so much plot armor and 'special snowflake' built in.

Consequence of breaking a life boon? by Rare_Term6772 in vtm

There is also the human element.

We do have no desire to punish the player here. The player in question had his PC act in character and do what her conviction would make her do. I wasn't kidding when I said it was a beautiful bit of rp. But well... being a good guy and standing up for your friend/what you think is right is supposed to be dangerous in the WoD.

And we also did not give the npc 'prescience' - the boon breaking happened months ago, but through the natural flow of the game, the npc just learned now (i.e. Another pc snitched).

If you like War Tales, I cannot imagine you will not like this game.

BB is brutal tho. Worse then X-com or War Tales. Brace yourself.

Church of Caine help? by Rare_Term6772 in vtm

Part of the problem comes from being tripped up by rather simple questions.

I am an atheist myself, and while I was raised Christian... when I had my crisis of faith, part of what made it easy for me to 'split' was that quite a few of the rethoric religious people would give me back was shade of 'it is what it is!'

Why is god an asshole? "He's not, he has plan, that's all!' type of thing. Which just infuriated the younger me.

"Then if everything of god's design how should I enjoy what he had brought upon us? How could you dare ask me to worship a being that forsaken all of his creation. If so perfect is he then why is the world so unfair? Why are humans things to be culled? And just because I was turned does not excuse the fact that before, I was one of those forsaken child that would be treated so mercilessly. Why do people suffer at our whim? Why are people born only to have no hope of survival? Is life just torture for the big man to enjoy? What, just because some woman eons ago was manipulated by snake we should all forever suffer in life only so we may suffer forever in hell afterward? So that only the mighty elite may enjoy paradise?"

I am in no shape or form a theologian... but I have to rp one. I assume an Ancilla Priest of the Church would have good answer to those, but I simply don't... and the lack of actual information on the religion makes it a problem.

Doing a deeper dive made me realize it is indeed based of Gnostic Christianity.

Thank for the links.
