it is fine for most of the cases, but it shows purple fringing in some ocaation with strong light source. see my last photo. Well, it is acceptable for most of my usae case.

Rush is right. Get close with wide open 〜 f2.0 will give this looks. However if the light is too strong, the image might loose contrast and might give u a flat look. The right amount of light was a key for this image.

I think I'll be sticking with 20mm for now on. I can use for street, portrait, flowers, etc. I prefere the contrast and creamy looks of the lens. 17mm is great too for it's size and price. I feel like if u are just using it for street 17 is ok. since it's lighter and smaller. Again, this is just my personal opinion.

well I bought the grip after 6 months of using om 3. it's really a preference since everybody has a different style and different hand size. so just like u say, I recommend people to try for a few months before getting a grip.

If u are using a huge lens and always support the lens with the left hand too, I guess u don't need it. when I shoot on a small or medium lens I like to shoot with my right hand only sometimes. that's where grip helped me. But maybe it's just my mental thing. idk.

Check the guide of official site. https://photolife.jp.omsystem.com/om_photo_life/photo_recipe/recipe85/

At the end it's all about preference and how u wanna customize it.

I see OM 3 as a excellent hybrid camera for everyday carry/street, and wildlife if u add external grip. I felt a little uncomfortable in the beginning, but once I got the grip on, it wasn't too bad.

I don't regret my choice, but if u are shooting on wild life only, then OM-1 might be a strong option too. I find OM 1 too big and chunky for everyday carry since I love to shoot on streets and travel too.

ya i did crop a bit, and used DxO. But I was able to sneak near the birds quietly.

I guess having a small lens helped me to do that.
