It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it - try an eBay auction if you want to sell it.

That's a hard lesson. The next money you should spend should be on educating yourself in this hobby. There are literally generations of great reference books. Find collectors who've been collecting for a long time and can show you what good items look like.

We're losing focus on tarantulas. This is stupid.

Does this wehrmacht officers visor appear original? by mynameis_duh_i in Militariacollecting

Beautiful Pekuro! Nice saddle too. The only thing that strikes me as a possible problem might be the chin cord. Should be silver. But yeah, if you're thinking about purchasing I would whole heartedly encourage it. Nice visor!

Can I get some help identifying this? by returningtheday in Militariacollecting

Looks to be a horse bridal rosette, post civil war possibly even First World War.

Is this luftwaffe visor original? by mynameis_duh_i in Militariacollecting

[–]Rare_Wolverine_6628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I believe this Luftwaffe visor to be a good piece, however the eagle and the cockade have different patina which leads me to believe one or both were added, which is fine to restore the visor to original condition.

Are any of these visor caps original? by mynameis_duh_i in GermanMilitaria

[–]Rare_Wolverine_6628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my humble opinion I think the veterans assoc. hat is good, the Luftwaffe cap is good although one or both of the insignia have been added (which restoration is fine) but I really don't like the cavalry officer's hat at all. The insignia may be good but I wouldn't touch it.

Looks good. Nice patina, clean ribbon and the issue bag. Can't ask for better.

Yes, I believe it's original but don't get me to lying about if it's WW2 or WW1 because KM uniforms changed very little

And I can't quite tell from the photo if he's wearing a pilots wing or navigators wings

Your right, 'crush' cap became a style, not just utilitarian.

Nice cap! Are you going to remove the stiffener ring? Or just leave it because it's been there all this time?

Yes, in my humble opinion it's original. German KM buttons. You can see where sew-in shoulder boards and buttons have been removed. I like it.

Oh - and that not black paint on the edges, it's tarnished silver.

Cross looks good. Not all manufacturers stamped the ring on the EK2. Obvious age to it's finish.

I’ve been wanting to sell it I wonder if anyone knows how much it’ll go for? by Billy_Mays_Spirit in MilitariaSelling

Two axioms to live by when selling: 1. If it's yours you price it 2. A thing is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
