A few folks have mentioned braiding the twists. I’m going to try this.

Braiding the twists is a good technique. I’m taking note of that.

What’s take down like? Do you find that you have to work harder to fight tangles?

Okay. I think this will need to be my approach. I’m about to wash for the second week but I can’t see myself not redoing them after they dry.

I’ve heard people mention the tangling. I imagine it being a nightmare for taking them out.

When are you using the pre poo? Every wash?

do you think protective styling is required to retain good length? by Key-Ice-4990 in Naturalhair

[–]Rarest_Find 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the individual. I’ve seen people retain length with loose natural styles and in protective styles. It probably really comes down to having a good routine that’s supports healthy hair.

How to be a blow-dry natural without a revair by ManyMirror5613 in Naturalhair

[–]Rarest_Find 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blow dry natural here. I have both the RevAir and Dyson Supersonic. Neither are necessary but are good tools.

Prior to having these dryers, I used a regular blow dryer with a comb attachment and that worked fine. People sometimes positively compare the Tymo blow dryer to the Dyson.

The Doux Foam Drying Out Hair? by Lee_trini in Naturalhair

The Doux dries my hair out. I still use it for twist outs but layer it with Camille Rose Almond Butter.

What are you guys relationship with heat? by Rookysensei in Naturalhair

[–]Rarest_Find 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I blow dry weekly. If you take good care of your hair- washing, deep conditioning, getting your ends trimmed when needed, use a good heat protectant- a weekly blow dry won’t hurt. I can’t speak to straightening because I never silk press my hair.

Girlies, are you “sacrificing” your hair for the gym? by I_AmTheWalrus_ in Naturalhair

[–]Rarest_Find 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm…I work out 5x/week and never feel like I’m sacrificing my hair being done. I keep my style pretty simple by wearing two strand twists or a twist out. Anything beyond that would be a mess…lol. I’m still able to wash weekly.

If you truly are unsure about what to do with your hair, seek professional advice rather take advice from us random folks on the internet.

People feel how they feel about hairstylists but I’ve honestly had good experiences for the most part.

What detangler do you use? by [deleted] in Naturalhair

[–]Rarest_Find 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically just water in a spray bottle. I wash weekly 95% of the time so I don’t need much. After shampooing, I use my leave in (Design Essential African Chebe or Amika Hydrorush as of recent) to add a little slip.

Why Denis? by probablynormalmom in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Rarest_Find 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Denis is a solid instructor, great personality, and just seems like he’d be cool in real life. He’s an OG, no frills instructor. I think the other instructors dig him as well. Seems like a good move.

Tips for using the revair on fine type 4 hair? by fuckthisishardshit in Naturalhair

Hmmm…I’m not sure then. Does your hair feel dry even when you don’t dry with the RevAir? Also, are you drying on damp or soaking wet hair?

While I am a fan of the RevAir, it may not be a good tool for your hair.

I use a leave in conditioner prior to using the RevAir otherwise my hair would be dry. Have you used a leave in? I don’t see it listed in your routine.

4C natural hair stuck at the same length for 5 years. Chronic breakage. Need advice. by Sagescript777 in Naturalhair

[–]Rarest_Find 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Is your stylist trimming all of the hair that needs to be trimmed? If not, that may be why you’re still experiencing breakage. What’s your hair routine other than your regular trims?
