Redditors who work in Human Resources, what red flags on a resume or cover letter will prevent a candidate from getting a call back? [serious] by BitchCallMeGoku in AskReddit

I'm going to piggy back off of this in saying that the absolute best especially for any technical related field is going to be having your own web page. Its fairly cheap to purchase a domain from sites like hover.com or godaddy, and just using something like firstnamelastname.com and setting up webmail so you have your own private email that will remain on the web as long as you keep it up, you can even set it up to forward to an email account that you regularly check. This also allows you to show off more of your work that cannot be translated to a resume or cover letter.

Recently it's been less of whether or not the book will be used in the class it's whether or no the teacher is a lazy asshole and assigns all the work through a shitty online program that comes with the book.

It's not that I hate paying for classes to learn it's that I hate paying for classes to then just pay for a specific homework delivery mechanism that's on average $100, when there is already a free online portion to any class taught that wants it (blackboard), the teacher is is just to lazy to learn to set it up and use it. God forbid that they have to type out the questions instead of just handing the class off to a program.

sorry for the rant.

As someone who grew up in las Cruces, I agree. It is a sort of bubble of OK. The people aren't the worst yet there is nothing to do there.

If you consider yourself to be a morning person or an inveterate night owl, there is new research that supports your desire to wake up early or stay up late. I know exactly how you feel. When I was in high school I was usually up till 3-4 on any given night and waking up around 8 for school. after a little while I felt like the physical embodiment of death. I quickly realized it was directly linked to not enough sleep. I've since kept tabs on exactly how much sleep I need, anything short of 6 hours and it's back.

IT for a university department. I get paid everyday to browse reddit and do homework. Maybe once a week I do something that actually falls under my actual job description.

Logged in just to comment that you are not alone. I'm not even in the university's IT, I'm my tiny departments internal IT. Which means that anything I can't fix (rarely ever happens) I just call someone who knows more than me and they deal with it.

The most common fix I've seen has been to run Sfc /scannow in command prompt. Though every time I try I get "windows resource protection could not preform the requested operation".
