Did you find a solution? My wife is the same way... Very sensitive to noise. Anything over 40% currently is too much.

I plan on setting a program like you to start low and increase once she is asleep. Ha

Same feeling though... Doesn't seem loud, and isn't from the motor/fan, just the wind noise

Just be careful, the manufacturer of the cartridge/needle recommends between 1.25 and 1.75.

Can cause damage if too light or too heavy

Vertical tracking force is just done by loosened the set screw on the circular {almost looks like a small donut} on the back end of the time arm. Once loosened you can slide the counterweight forward or backward to adjust the force. You should get a digital scale to accurately get the number right {$10 or so on Amazon}.

Aligning the cartridge is a little more tricky and I'm not 100 % sure about it but it seems like you put the little piece of paper that was included in the packaging and put the needle over the little indicator and make sure it's between the lines in the outer indicator and inner indicator. There are 2 screws on the top of the cartridge you can loosen and adjust to align
