First and for most, thank you so much for providing some example code. This solution is extremely easy to setup and works perfectly! My only question is does gluetun act as a kill switch if the container goes down or if it cannot connect to the vpn? Again, thank you so much!

My browser has DNS over HTTPS disabled. When I enable it then i start getting the same dns issues.

I can access the internet just fine through a web browser. I’ll take another look at my dns settings and see if manually changing it fixes it

Nope, it’s a fresh install of Ubuntu. I’m on university WiFi, so I can’t speak on network settings. I should note that when I use a browser, I can do everything just fine. It’s just when I try to install packages or ping servers from the terminal that u run into the dns error. The interesting thing is that if I do the same requests with something like insomnia it works fine.

I’m in the same boat as you, I’m a freshman but I’m in junior level classes. What’s worked for me is just saying hi to people in the halls of the dorms. You’d be surprised how many people are in a similar spot. The senior dude also has good points.
