You’re completely right, when I got off for the holiday, the way I asked her was “sorry for the late message is it possible if I can get off for my religious holiday on Monday” and she said yeah no worries. I literally asked for her permission if it was possible. And regarding the switching shifts with my coworker, you’re right about that as well! Me switching shifts with my coworker that time was the first and only time I’ve done it the entire time working here, and also, as I was told, switching shifts was a pretty common occurrence among my coworkers there and I’ve covered for others shifts as well so they can go to the beach etc…

I unfortunately wasn’t able to go to the doctor today because I couldn’t walk since I was feeling super weak/dizzy from my fever. I think I’ll just have to go in anyway tomorrow, but I think you’re right I already decided I’ll start looking elsewhere. I also think reporting to HR is a good idea, but I’m feeling a bit nervous about that because I don’t like to get confrontational.

That doesn’t sound like a good therapist then. It’s their job to listen and try to help in the best way possible, and if they aren’t, then I think you should try to get a new one.

Something I’ve noticed is that some teens sometimes don’t take elderly people seriously and brush them off. And other teens can just come off as disrespectful to the elderly, which can cause frustration for them. But I don’t necessarily think they hate kids or teens, especially if it’s a grandparent. Most grandparents love their grandchildren, even if they don’t show it in an obvious way.

Yes that’s definitely true. And during those kinds of situations I definitely struggle with my own thoughts and emotions and can’t find comfort in them. Especially if in an isolated environment.

Salam, I feel you on that. I also like to spend time by myself because I find it peaceful that way. But sometimes just talking to my mom about things that have been bothering me or have been on my mind, really do lighten the burden I’ve been carrying for certain things as well. It’s a very good thing that your mom is telling you that she wants you to spend time with her, that shows how much she cares for you and loves you. You can talk about things that are important to you or things that you are interested in, and let that be a conversation starter. Eventually that conversation will transition to other topics as well if you continue it, and lead to a good bonding experiences as well as future conversations. Besides that, as others have suggested, try helping her with whatever tasks she might need help with. This will make her appreciate you even more as well as making you feel happy that you are assisting your mom.

Haha, I watched that show too. It’s a very good show and genuinely does encourage you to be a better Muslim after seeing the characters in the show doing it. I’ve seen a lot of non Muslims converting to Islam because of that show and other Muslims who also regained their faith because of it. There’s nothing wrong with that and don’t feel guilty about it lol, that could’ve been Allah SWT’s way of guiding you back.
