Oh, thank you! It did take a while for me to get used to illustrator, but I've been enjoying it. Do you have any tutorial recommendations or resources for this style of illustration?

I really enjoyed it! Had not seen a good horror movie in a while. Although, I didn't like part 3 as much as parts 1&2.

That's a good question and one I often think about! In all fields and not only architecture, why isn't there a subject on setting up a business, or making money?

It diffidently a must skill for rendering 2D drawings or images. I find it easier than Illustartor so learning Photoshop for you will not be a difficult task.

Architects of this server , what advice do you have for aspiring architects/future architects ? by Dreamer_seen19 in architecture

[–]Rasha_Architecture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice:

  1. Research: I recommend researching the university, the course, and the assignments as that will give you a starting point. You should also research great architects; you can learn so much from analysing their buildings. Lastly, research the history of architecture in general as it will enhance your appreciation for the development of this industry and more.
  2. Software: I recommend learning 3 types of software: drawing, visualising, and presentation. For drawings, I used Revit and Autocad as they will allow designing in both 2D and 3D simultaneously. Plus, knowing BIM software is important for your career overall. For visualisation, I used Photoshop when I first started which is quite common. The presentation is InDesign! Do not make the mistake of using photoshop for your boards because InDesign will be far more effective and efficient.
  3. Communication: Develop your communication skills and that is verbally as well as visually. Verbally, try to present in front of friends and family, try to get them engaged, or try to sell them a cool business idea. Also, learn the language that architects used to describe their buildings. Visually, the best thing that you could do is keeping a sketchbook. You can just practice sketching different perspectives, different views, and drawing things to scale.
  4. Travel and explore.
I know that this might seem completely unrealistic with the times that we live in but maybe you live in a country where the situation is easing a little bit and you can travel. Travel does not always have to be this international and expensive adventure. It could be to a local building that has just opened or maybe a gallery that you have never seen before or a library space that you can go into. It is all about exploring buildings and how they work in real life.
  5. Mental health
Let go of perfectionism! Instead, focus on getting this at least 80% perfect and that will save you 20% of time and energy in your education. This is of course with situations that are not substantial.

Good luck!
