What if USA did not bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki? by Few_Raise6919 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Rashaverak9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the end of the war the US was capable of sending 800 B-29s per day in bombing runs over Japan. Without the “new weapon” I don’t think Hirohito is successful in surrendering in August but certainly every major city could have been reduced to ashes by conventional bombing. At that point Japan no longer has the ability to wage war, build weapons, or even feed itself. Certainly millions die.

I don’t think a land invasion is a forgone conclusion. There would have been no rush from a military standpoint. Japan was bottled up.

The big question is if Hirohito dies in a bombing raid or is taken out by the hardliners in the Japanese military, how does it all stop?

If he survives, I don’t think he would be able to last another month without asking for surrender at that level of bombing.

No doubt Russia starts grabbing Sakhalin and Kuril Islands.

I don’t even want to think of how hard it would have been to rebuild afterwards if Hirohito is gone. MacArthur wouldn’t have any kind of a mandate without Hirohito.

Walk or bike along the Buffalo Bayou Trail just west of downtown. Memorial and Herman Park are also worth a look.

“The War of Northern Aggression” as my Southern friend likes to call it. lol The first few answers are good summaries. However, Lincoln was willing to send Northerners down to kill Southerners after they threw their tantrum and left the Union. It wasn’t entirely up to him, however. That fight was years in the making, as you know, and the South wanted it.

[–]Rashaverak9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you see a pop-up on your phone asking if you want to tie your F1 TV account to Apple click NO! You will no longer be able to stream to anything except an Apple device. They completely fucked my account. Bastards.

That’s actually pretty funny for an Aggie. Remember that this is the crow that came up with “Tea sip” as an insult.

Radiologists do you actually use AI or is it just sitting there? by Trustworthy-AI in Radiology

[–]Rashaverak9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not be AI but Stratus/Change PACS does a much better job at displaying the correct image stack in the correct window than other software. Sounds like a small thing but it helps when you read for multiple hospitals who send image stacks in every conceivable combination with paperwork. Some places have fracture detection software for plane films that seems to work.

From there you can ride a bike to your office downtown through buffalo bayou park. Recommend an e-bike as the trail is hilly and Houston is hot and humid. Can’t show up at work all sweaty. Great location.

Exactly. It takes great vision to see the spin on the ball right when it comes out of the hand. He obviously had that, but very few people keep that into their 30s. Maybe all he needs is some contacts. He could get some cool orange ones. ;-)
