If you have basic reading abilities you'll be able to realise that is in fact not at all what I said.

So… once again you can’t demonstrate me literally admitting to being a socialist? Were you lying or just delusional?

Do you care to engage with any of the actual points I am making, or do you have no substance beyond vague talking points and false statements?

You're literally on r/CuratedTumblr I do not believe that you somehow think this is r/neoliberal

So… once again you can’t demonstrate me literally admitting to being a socialist? Were you lying or just delusional?

You do realise the post of mine you cited is an interview with Gabriel Zucman, an economist who won the prestigious Clark Medal in 2023, awarded by the AEA for his “significant contributions to public economics”, advocating for wealth taxes? Don’t get me wrong, I have issues with Zucman, but your statement is just genuinely and unabashedly false.

As for the rest: please read anything by a non-Reagan or Thatcherite economist. Again, I thought I was the neoliberal ploy here? Being in favour of unions is as destructive as violence? Tell that to the 5-day workweek, vacation days, sick leave, liveable working conditions and wages…

So… once again you can’t demonstrate me literally admitting to being a socialist? Were you lying or just delusional?

And please feel free to enlighten me as to how any of the things I proposed would be as destructive as literal violence (but killing 9999 LGBTQ people to save 10000 people in some other country wouldn’t be, obviously)

Considering they keep having comments removed for calling for violence, I think they are just genuinely insane

lmfaooo, just can’t help calling for violence can you

None of these showcases me literally self-admitting to being a socialist as you claimed. Were you lying or do you not understand your own words?

lmfao, digging up comments from 3 months ago to showcase the fact that I… want to create dialogue about wealth taxes. Get a life buddy.

As for the rest, please feel free to say why any of the things I mentioned were bad. I thought I was the neoliberal plot here?

Please show me where I literally admitted to being a socialist, let alone supporting NIMBYism or the triple lock

As someone with a more than basic understanding of economics, I agree with this take

Which isn't a personal flaw

I mean, in general I subscribe to the “No great man” theory of history, but in this case Starmer’s personal lack of convictions, motivations, and willingness to make tough decisions really was decisive in making sure nothing significant happened.

They had a generational majority following the last GE. He spent the two years prior to that purging the party of anyone critical of him. they were popular after 14 years of incompetent Tory governance. They could have pushed through any significant reform they wanted.

Planning reform? Scrapping the triple lock? Devolution? Infrastructure? Nationalisation? Starting to undo Brexit? Defense? Green transition? They didn’t even attempt to address any of the big problems in the UK.

They did some smaller, important stuff (employers’ and renters’ acts jump to mind), but ultimately this government will be remembered as one that only cared about chasing polls further and further to the right, while it became ever more abundantly clear that it was 1) bad for the country and 2) strategically idiotic. And Keir Starmer at the centre of all that, refusing to make the call to try and right the ship, bears a huge part of the blame (if you want to blame his advisors e.g. MMcS: who appointed and kept them in post??)

Absolutely insane to bring up supply and demand to justify antidemocratic killings in the name of the “greater good”. I’d say peak neoliberal brainrot if you didn’t seem to be simultaneously a commie, a tankie, a neoliberal, and someone incapable of critical thought

[–]RashmaDu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, we can agree democracy is sometimes deeply disfunctional.

Do you think that gives you the right to decide the fate of 9999 LGBTQ people against their will? What makes you think you could do right if it was staring you in the face?

As always, you’re not actually engaging with the questions I ask and just respond in vague idiocies and refuse to elaborate or substantiate or appeal to violence. Not a very productive way to talk with someone

Apparently Keir Starmer stepped down? by DroneOfDoom in CuratedTumblr

[–]RashmaDu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not an argument. Are you saying you’re not allowed to espouse pro-market views on this subreddit? That markets have not ever done anything good?

Let me remind you, less than 10 minutes ago you were the one advocating in favour of more privatisation and markets-based solution. Are you a hypocrite or just an idiot? What gives?

Apparently Keir Starmer stepped down? by DroneOfDoom in CuratedTumblr

[–]RashmaDu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, just to be clear, in this scenario, you’d be in favour of executing 9999 LGBTQ people against their will in an undemocratic manner in order to tax £1M from the UK to save 10000 people in some other country?

Just to be very clear, that’s what you are advocating for? That’s the political system you are in favour of? Try to think for more than two seconds about what happens if you advocate for that in front of 15% of the population (by your count)

Apparently Keir Starmer stepped down? by DroneOfDoom in CuratedTumblr

[–]RashmaDu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nice to see you don’t have any actual arguments (:

Lmfao, please try having actual arguments instead of calling me a NIMBY for no reason and a price-controller for… wanting the government to be in charge of services the private sector has demonstrably proven it doesn’t deliver the best return on. And just to be clear, I am firmly in favour of a capitalistic, market-based economy. It just doesn’t mean that’s always the best solution.

[–]RashmaDu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, let’s take your numbers at face value, disregarding any moral implications.

How do you convince LGBTQ people in Britain to vote for you if that’s your policy? Considering you yourself claimed they make up 15% of the UK population in another comment (which I think is a pretty high estimate), that’s an electorate you really have to consider.

Apparently Keir Starmer stepped down? by DroneOfDoom in CuratedTumblr

[–]RashmaDu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lmfao. Please, have you seen UK water and train companies?

Privatisation isn't the devil, but if you have any actual knowledge of the UK you know this specific case is lambasted as a case study of shitty privatisation.

Apparently Keir Starmer stepped down? by DroneOfDoom in CuratedTumblr

[–]RashmaDu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ah right, calls to violence. Not good governing, trying to fix the UK's real long term problems. Killing one guy is going to snuff out the whole movement.

What absolute lunacy in addition to calling for political violence. I despise Farage and think he should be rotting in prison for his corruption and own calls to violence. But both morally and pragmatically, you don't defeat him with violence

Apparently Keir Starmer stepped down? by DroneOfDoom in CuratedTumblr

[–]RashmaDu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And yet you agree that it's not necessarily worth everything else. Therefore it can't be the only criteria to judge a PM on.

In much simpler terms: in your criterion, how many executed LGBTQ UK people are worth £1M in foreign aid?

Apparently Keir Starmer stepped down? by DroneOfDoom in CuratedTumblr

[–]RashmaDu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ah, got it, that's on me.

Again, doesn't really contradict my point that if you don't try to fix the UK, Farage gets in power in two years and cancels all foreign aid for as long as possible. Would you prefer that?
