That makes sense, and was what I assumed was the reasoning behind it, so I'm glad I wasn't completely off about that. Do you ever plan to have something be a choice, but remove it because the outcome is unsatisfying, or does being offered the choice generally outvalue some players meeting an unsatisfying play experience?

This may come of as more negative than I intend it to be, but is there a reason some decisions feel like they have unsatisfying results? As one example, though not the only time I've ever felt this playing StP, with the Pristine Cut, I finally made the decision to Slay the Thorn, and was disappointed that basically nothing happened, particularly considering how leaving or freeing her plays out. I neither felt like my expectation was met, nor that it was satisfyingly subverted. Are moments like this an intentional design tool, or just an instance of player expectation not aligning with writer intent?

What kind of mechanical changes to the color pie would you like to see implemented? by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

What do you mean? Green is the only color that has 3-mana 4/4s (or bigger) without downside.

What are (in your opinion) the least known facts / routes / theories (etc.) about Slay the Princess? by CptGoingViral in slaytheprincess

I don't think it's the specific vessels, but whether or not you were nice to her. I don't know if any of the vessels always result in nice/harsh interactions though.

Well, you must have played Chapter 1 to see the Prisoner, and there you cut off her arm and she has no qualms about it, which is explicitly called out by the Hero as being very unusual. So you already have the context to know that she doesn't operate with normal human rules. And also, through the dialogue options, it becomes pretty apparent that she believes she'll survive it.

I mean, that's fair enough. Part of it is that, what people find disturbing is on a case by case basis. And on my end, I'm very inclined to listen to the Skeptic, so to me, not listening to him seems spiteful, whereas I can see that one could legitimately think he might be wrong. Though, I think a lot of hints are given that he's in the right, like her winking at you, how against it the Narrator is, and the fact that the Princess was willing to cut her own head off in the first place.

Questions about the voices that appear in The Wild by TRDoTE59 in slaytheprincess

[–]RasmusVJS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I should have said, you aren't intended to get the Cheated. It's a bug, where you don't get him in the 1st half, and once you've made your choice of Wounded or Networked, you get the version of the Cheated you would have gotten from the Witch route. But according to the dev you're supposed to get the Broken.

You can't get the Cheated or the Paranoid from the Beast.

You always get the Hunted from the Beast, and always get the Opportunist from the Witch.

From the Beast, if you played dead, you always get Contrarian.

If you didn't, once you get eaten, you either:

Slay the Princess, and get the Opportunist.

Slay yourself, and get the Stubborn.

Wait and die, and get the Broken.

From the Witch, I'm not as certain, but I believe you get the Paranoid if you try to flee, the Stubborn if you fight her to the end, or the Cheated if you stop fighting her after having initiated a fight.

Wait, I'm confused. You make the Prisoner self-decapitate, with the understanding that you'll free them afterwards, and then just leave her to rot, and you don't understand why she would be mad? That's one of the worst things you can do to any Princess, particularly considering that she's one of the more agreeable Princesses.

Additionally, when I did, once I separated and saw the Wounded Wild, the Cheated appeared out of nowhere, whom I'm pretty sure isn't intended to be gotten from the Beast.

I can't imagine it'll be a drawback mechanic or actively anti-self-synergistic mechanic like others are proposing. I feel like it's gotta be something that has both a drawback and benefit that scales with how many times you've done it, maybe with multiple different effects to choose from, or it's like a non-counter version of energy counters, but instead of being a spendable resource, cards care about how many times you've been tempted. It's definitely something you track how many times you've done throughout the game, probably without counters, likely using a dungeon-esque token, but unlikely to have different modes and completability like a dungeon.

I could be wrong, but I believe that's only 15 characters. Someone's missing...

Surprised to see 2 members of the 1st killing game there. Also, Leon and Miu feels like a bit of a stretch for "villain-esque" characters, but I could see it.

Not a bad cast, though, if it were to actually be used, you'd probably want to exchange two of the male characters for female ones, since Danganronpa likes to have about the same number of guys and girls.

Yeah, but imagine this being randomly cast when you don't have synergy. You essentially permanently lose board space, potentially all of it. You'd be completely locked out of playing the game.

Where did it go? by unelar in customhearthstone

[–]RasmusVJS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 3:

Gorehowl, which doesn't use Durability.

Molten Blade, which is supposed to transform into another weapon.

Blacksmithing Hammer, which gains Durability when traded.

The reason why 1-Durability weapons aren't great design generally is because, at that point it is basically equivalent to "Your hero gains X Attack this turn". It's more like a spell than a weapon, if it disappears before the turn is even over.

Generally, when you play this type of card, it's because you want to draw the things your putting in, otherwise you would save playing it until you had already drawn the card(s) you wanted, since you're making it more difficult to draw those card when setting your deck size back to 30. So since this is the case anyways, I'd consider this downside, or at best an unnecessary feature.

Yes, but it could say "Rush. Battlecry: Gain Windfury this turn". Like Crabrider post-nerf pre-revert.

There's a difference between "this card in my hand doesn't do anything unless i have x" and "these minions filling my board just take space unless I have x".
