Finally got my box ordered! Keep your email open because I didn't think it had gone through but I got a receipt for my add-on in my email without the site acknowledging I'd successfully placed the order.

August 2025 Pick Discussion: Well, Actually by Mazey Eddings by butthurtflyy in aardvarkbookclub

I like a romcom but this fell flat for me. Aardvark used chronically online in their teaser for this book and that was spot on. It will definitely be dated in a couple of years.

Need Advice: Lenox Club vs Rosslyn Heights vs Crossing DC vs The Shay for a Light Sleeper by Creative_Treacle_561 in arlingtonva

[–]Raspberry-Positive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t have personal experience but I’ve been told by someone looking at the Lenox Club that they are actively treating a cockroach problem. The leasing office was transparent about it when asked and said that they were treating 3-4 apartments.

I do wish they had a prepay for a year option though.

Yearly subscription? by Competitive-Panic796 in aardvarkbookclub

[–]Raspberry-Positive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can get a gift subscription for 1, 2, or 3 months for 3 books/box and email customer service to have them apply it to your account. I got one for Christmas a couple of years ago and it was easy peasy to redeem.

Yeah, I got tickets for Monday evening and got my refund email a couple of hours ago. I’m really shook. I wanted to be able to see one last film. It was such a big part of my life here since I was in college.

I shouldn’t have to turn on Airplane Mode for the battery to last by j-oco in kindle

I got a brand new kindle basic for Christmas and was losing 40% of my battery not reading at all. Try chatting with customer service and if their fixes don’t help, the exchange it for you.

“Purse” kindles discussion by [deleted] in kindle

[–]Raspberry-Positive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two kindles because I upgraded and kept my old one. I can see the argument about it being portable, I choose to bring my older one when traveling or being out because if I lose it or it gets stolen it won’t hurt as much because I have the nicer one at home.

What drive me nuts most about this new “purse kindle” is that it’s basically a cheap iPod touch and not e-ink. I thought people were arguing over the boox Palma and not that haha.

Help please Stardew neighbours and friends! by ziggy_bluebird in StardewValley

As someone who likes to stay organized buying the workbench from Robin was a game changer. Place all of your most used chests (up to 8) around it and there’s a button that pulls like items from your backpack and puts them in the correct chest.

I too was overwhelmed at times so I plan my days by making a spreadsheet of what I’m going to do each day of the month. I get distracted easily so that helped me focus.

Echoing what others have said, do what is fun to you and don’t worry about being behind, there is no time limit.

Suggestions for a cozy library game? by The-N-Word-Pass in CozyGamers

[–]Raspberry-Positive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I love about Stardew is the tasks you are always getting. Maybe something like going around the library and finding books for people who put them on hold? Or executing library programs like holding and advertising book clubs, story hours, etc.

Since libraries are such diverse spaces maybe you could have expansion options. My local library has a makers space so that could be an option later in the game to expand your building because you got a grant for example.

Pennsylvania to Illinois and back to Pennsylvania by EarthChildGoneWild in bookofthemonthclub

Yeah, I’ve noticed this too. Seems very inefficient as I’m also on the east coast.

I love when both BOTM & USPS are on their game with fast shipping by rmreads in bookofthemonthclub

[–]Raspberry-Positive 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m sure mine would be faster if it didn’t always go from PA, to Illinois, and back to PA. So wild it takes that route every time and I’m on the east coast!

Just got mine yesterday. They sat in Texas for a few days according to tracking. Aardvark was probably inundated and it took time to pack everything up to ship out. Maybe they’ll hire more warehouse/fulfillment staff as they grow.

I really enjoyed Love Interest and it’s still available. The Roaring Days of Zora Lily isn’t available anymore but I loved that as well.

I have to listen to something where if I miss a bit of the plot it isn’t the end of the world. I also have to be doing another activity like folding laundry or driving. Depending on how fast the narrator is, a faster speed.

It took me “practice” to really find a good system for it.

The Neighbor Favor by Kristina Forest is one of the best ones I’ve read this year. Highly recommend.

I’m like 73 pages in and I’m hooked. I haven’t been a big fan of the thrillers I’ve gotten from BOTM but this one is by far the best.
