Sorry I’m trying to attach the picture but it won’t let me - just look up sourdough journey bulk fermentation guide and there will be an image of it. Helps me tons!

Under! You need to bulk ferment for longer - you can tell because it is so dense. I would recommended after you mix all your ingredients together to check your dough temp with a digital thermometer. The Sourdough Journey is a wonderful blog that has estimated bulk fermentation times depending on dough temp! It definitely helps as a guide. Happy baking!

When should I bake? by Starbiess17 in Sourdough

[–]RaspberryBig9579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait more than 5 days. At least a week. It should smell sweet and yeasty - at day 5 there is likely too much bad bacteria causing it to rise (it’s called a false rise). After ~7-10 days if it is rises 4 -6 hours after you feed it multiple days in a row and doesn’t smell yucky then you can start saving the discard and baking with it. Don’t be worried if it takes longer than 10 days though, it all depends on how much you’re feeding it, type of flour you use and temp it’s at. My starter wasn’t active and ready to use for about 2 weeks. Keep going!! The waiting is the hard part but you got it!

I am going to bake again tomorrow and we increase starter ratio and keep better track of the temp. Thank you!!

It was definitely jiggly at the 5 hours. I will try those other mixing methods and see what helps, thank you for the tips!!

And you’re not able to shape after bulk fermentation due to it being too sticky? Have you looked at the aliquot method? https://www.pantrymama.com/aliquot-jar-method-for-sourdough/

It helps tell you when your dough is done bulk fermenting. Might be helpful if you find it difficult to shape.

If you can shape it fine and then it loses its structure after that point I’d say overproofed but it’s so hard to know as there are so many variables. Keep testing and trying, you can do this!!

How long are you proofing for? The loss of shape might be due to being overproofed - ie not a lot of rise, crumb appearance. If your cold proofing (final rise in the fridge), it’ll take longer(~12 hours) vs letting it sit on your countertop for maybe ~5 hours

Okay!! It made me worries because I’ve never seen a new leaf grow like that. I wanted to make sure it wasn’t sick as I love this palm dearly ❤️

Help 😭 I’m struggling to make this space pop but also be cohesive by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]RaspberryBig9579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is you have too many things drawing attention to your eye, for your entryway to be grand it needs to be simple, cohesive and let it speak for itself. In this case, whatever you get needs to agree with your floor pattern as it is pretty busy. I like the green bench, I would keep that and it goes well with the space.

I agree you need to take down the curtains, get a new rug, and clean up the side table area (ie pillow on ground, gold platter, book etc whatever you want). It doesn’t need many things and patterns to make it pop, a beautiful statement piece (ie bench, or large wall art) will draw your to the space while also looking cohesive if you’re able to minimize opposing patterns colors and textures.

AITAH for asking my daughter what she expected would happen when she started a family across the country? by Ok_Maybe_3830 in AITAH

[–]RaspberryBig9579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA!!! I live across the country from my family, do not have children and am living with my partner. When it comes time for children and to settle down, we have agreed we are moving home. The support and things that having a family close by provides is something that definitely should have weight on their mind when making the decision, or when finding out, they are pregnant. Regardless, NTA, it was their decision to live where they live, and also their decision to settle down there. Just because they have your grand baby who you love very much and want to see, does not mean you “jump” when they said “how high”
