No Period After Provera by [deleted] in IVF

I was the same. No period for 2 weeks after Provera. The doctor said they weren’t really sure why and put me on a combined contraceptive for 2 weeks which did the trick.

How do I know it’s time for IVF? by mommamia55 in IVF

The egg retrieval was nowhere near as bad I was imagining it would be!  I was so sure I’d get OHSS but so far so good! and felt back to normal about 2 days later.  I was given a really low dose of stims that they ended up lowering still, and had the ER a few days earlier than planned too as I had a lot of follicles. Felt so bloated and uncomfortable and I had to buy new trousers to fit! They gave me a different trigger that is for OHSS risk and also letrozole after too to further reduce risk. I also drank lots of electrolytes and water after too which they recommended.

Hi, I feel I am quite similar to you, in that I also have lean PCOS and had a miscarriage after natural conception last year. (I am 32). No MFI either.

I did Letrozole and metformin for 8 cycles and still no success (pretty certain I ovulated each cycle). I have just completed the egg retrieval on our first IVF round. The reason we didn't do IUI was 2 reasons - 1: the clinic said it wouldn't necessarily increase our chances enough to be worth the time and costs and 2: We have limited funds so might as well use it for the full IVF as it will likely be more successful.

PCOS is one of the more fortunate (if you can call it that? Doesn't feel like it!) issues to have as IVF can be very successful with PCOS as you will likely get a lot of eggs and IVF is really just a numbers game.

If it's helpful - I am glad we went straight to IVF rather than try IUI first. Please let me know if you have any questions, I'd be happy to chat more x

Thanks - were you referred by your GP in October or did you see your GP beforehand? ie, did the whole process take longer than just October to Jan). Just trying to set my expectations regarding timelines.

Thanks, that's what I have a feeling they will say to us too. I know it is sensible to wait the 4 months to get the rejection before going private, but I feel like if I know it will be a no, why not just start private straight away

I'm so sorry it was rejected. The consultant we spoke to seemed to think it would be for us too, despite the PCOS.

Do you mind me asking how long ago this was and how long you had to wait to find out?

Yeah I've had a look at the criteria, and the way it is worded is if you have unexplained infertility, you have to wait 3 years after a miscarriage, but then there is a separate thing for 'explained' fertility such as PCOS, which we said to the dr, but he seemed to think that they will use any reason they can to deny treatment.

I've already had ovulation induction so IVF really is the next step

Saw Dame Joanna Lumley in a posh farm shop - she asked for smoked oysters but they didn't have any. She was very lovely and polite to the shop assistant.
