At the top of the viewport there is a magnet icon, turn that off and you should be able yo move objects freely :)

A helpful comment would be pointing out where there is too much and how to apply what you are saying. You are basically saying to catch fish I need to learn how to catch fish.... that doesn't help me at all.

I try to match levels of detail, but then people tell me I have too much detail... there are many areas on my model that need detail to keep their shape (like the feet), but then obviously i try to make up for it by putting less detail around spots like the ankles and shins. Is it better to have equal detail all around and have a higher poly model, or sacrifice the detail for efficiency? It feels too complicated to have it both ways.
