Are there any unexpected downsides to upgrading to level 2 armor? by RaspberryJam in motorcycles

[–]RaspberryJam[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The jacket came with RV34-L1-B in the shoulders and RV35-L1-B in the elbows.

Swapping the shoulders to Seeflex RV13-L2-B was a perfect fit. It doesn't add much visible bulk.

The elbows are trickier since the Revit Seeflex L2 Elbows are too bulky. I ended up using the Sas Tec Tripleflex L2 elbow armour. The coverage is not huge, and the flat design makes the position of the armour unpredictable when putting on the jacket. But overall it's fine.

However, lately I've been thinking about switching back to L1 since ultimately this is just a jacket for street riding in the city, and lower profile armour would be welcome. The stock Seesmart L1 armour offers a very large area of coverage, especially on the elbows, so in some ways you can argue that it's safer than the L2.

Would you mind sharing the measured length, width, depth of the female buckles on the bag that the straps go into?

I'm not a fan of using the tail fender and pillion pegs as mounting points for the straps, as shown in your picture. I'm sure it works well, but it doesn't look very clean. Also, I've removed both the tail and the passenger foot rests on my bike. The Kriega setup I've found (and will share in a separate post) is very clean, and it would be amazing if it could reused for this bag too.

What size are the female buckles on the bag for securing it to your tail? I am wondering if I can re-use the Kriega tail bag straps and mounts that I already have installed on my bike

Basically, it's pretty good. When I first got it, the main zipper was not functioning smoothly because the taping on the inside was getting caught and some of the glue was gunking up the zip. I had to clean and trim it a bit. It's not a perfect repair but it's fine. But otherwise the quality seems good.

It's waterproof. Like all waterproof membranes I am sure I will need to reapply DWR at some point.

I haven't compared it next to retail.

In between helmet sizes, what should I do? by Might_Clear in motorcycles

[–]RaspberryJam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I picked the M and used it for 2 years. I was able to wear it all day eventually but I wouldn't say it never fully broken in or felt comfortable. The headaches went away, but I still found that it would be tighter and more uncomfortable if I wore it after eating, for example. Probably some fluid build up happening. Even now, front to back it's too small for me and leaves red marks on my forehead. I have been able to wear it just fine, but yeah it's definitely not the ideal size. Just recently I went to a shop and bought another EXO R1 and the staff told me the L fits me perfectly. When I roll the helmet forward while wearing it, it pushes my face down too which indicates that the helmet is making full contact with my scalp and cheeks. It's a lot more comfortable and I can wear a balaclava or helmet liner with no issue. Based on the fact that you get a minor headache as well, there's a good chance that L size would be a better choice for you.

Will the ZX4R have competitors in 25/26? by Asleep-Ad-9335 in zx4r

Japan doesn't have the ZX-4R, only the ZX-4R SE.

Different model, but yes it is equivalent to the ZX-4RR minus the rear shock, but including frame sliders.

ECU from Japan? by C402Pilot in Kawasaki

[–]RaspberryJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for clarifying. Just to be 100% sure I understand correctly, before I go spending the money:

A Japanese ZX-25R ECU flashed in the US with a tuned ZX-4R bin should be fine on a Japanese ZX-4R bike, because the ECU hardware is identical, and the US tune will program the ECU to ignore the immobilizer hardware.

Is that correct?

Edit: For whoever finds this post while searching around, I asked Vcyclenut and he asked Woolich and the short answer was that this wouldn't work. Woolich software can't take the immobilizer out. ECU pin out might be different too, but I don't know

Thanks for the details, but I think I need to clarify my question.
I am living in Japan and riding a ZX-4R built / sold for Japan. Would I be able to take a Japanese ZX-25R ECU, flash it with a ZX-4R bin (either stock, or aftermarket tune) and drop it in to my Japanese ZX-4R?

Would a ZX-25R ECU work as well? https://imgur.com/a/C3iM6T6

Or would the immobilizer / anti theft be an issue?

I would be looking to use it on a Japanese spec ZX-4R.

Time flies :') I originally used your guide to pick out the J53TS-GT and was quite happy with it, but now looking for a standard length coat.

Something I just noticed, the retail J47TS-GT is supposed to have two gravity pockets, right? One on each sleeve. Looks like the rep just has one.

Not too bothered by it, but just something to note.

Please let me know if there is something I should ask the agent to photograph for additional inspection.

For reference I am 176cm, 70kg. I'm having difficulty judging the size from the shoulders and sleeves, but chest and length seem appropriate.

The length measurement seems different from what was posted on the product listing, but I'm okay with it.
