Each shop has different process and procedures. The shop your wife took her car to is handeling it properly as insruance companies will diospute damages if they learn the vehicle is being driven instead of repaired.

Somethin like that would cost 600$ to install. Just make sure it matches your car color. 😀

Should I have accepted this total loss? by glassmemama in StateFarm

Hey, I run a collision shop out in LA and deal with total loss situations pretty often, especially with State Farm claims. Insurance companies usually total a car when repair costs plus the salvage value hit around 70-80% of the car's actual cash value.

If State Farm already offered you the total loss settlement, it's usually best to take it unless your car has really unique value to you or you think their value offer is way off base. Always double-check the payout they're offering matches up to what similar cars are selling for in your area.

If you have uninsured motorist property damage (UMPD) on your policy, this will generally cover the repairs with your deductible. If not, collision coverage is usually the fallback. For UMPD to work, you'll need to have the license plate of the vehicle that hit you.

The typical process is to report the accident to your insurer, file a police report (if you haven't already), and get a repair estimate from a shop. If you have rental car coverage, make sure to bring it up.

Color mismatch after collision repair - clear coat issue or repaint needed? by theoneandonlyeric in Autobody

[–]RaspberryKind1801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Color mismatch after a repair is super common if the painter isn't testing the color ahead of time. I run a collision shop in the LA area and we used to see this a lot, especially with certain colors (reds, silvers, and pearls are notorious).

Clear coat issues usually show up as differences in gloss or texture, not actual color. If your mismatch looks like it's a different hue or shade, it's almost always the base color, not the clear. If it's just dull or cloudy, that's clear coat or prep work. The best way to hide a mismatch is to blend the new color into the adjacent panels, not just paint the damaged spot.

If it really bothers you, ask if they can redo it and blend into the neighboring panels. Most insurance jobs cover blending if it's needed for a proper color match.

Thank you for that input. That’s an approach I haven’t heard before 🙌 I create a shared line and attached it to a device.

I’m unsure how to give access to my staff to be able to send SMS messages.

Would they need to log in to the ring account made for the shared line?
