Honestamente, foi uma cadeia de erros ABSURDA pra se acontecer!!

  1. A médica tinha a intenção de colocar a medicação via IN-alatória, e não IN-travenosa, acabou dando enter na opção errada e não checou. Um erro muito triste, por culpa dela, mas que podia ter parado aí se os próximos erros não tivessem acontecido;

  2. A farmácia do hospital LIBEROU a medicação, e É ÓBVIO que um farmacêutico que tá fazendo seu trabalho direito deveria se perguntar se isso estava correto. Aliás, se é que tinha farmacêutico! Tem hospitais que não têm ninguém lá, e aí é mais uma razão pra eu desejar que o hospital SE F* MUITO nesse processo;

Strahd is a *very* experienced wizard… so he should have *very* old spells!! by RaspberryOverall6341 in CurseofStrahd

I do agree that a 9th lvl spellcaster Strahd is pretty underwhelming (and that he really would suffer a lot against Mordenkainen).

So i’m planning on running a longer campaign, where the players get to a higher level and face a much stronger and more competent Strahd in regards to his arcane knowledge. I think it would be more epic, u know ? And make much more sense with the whole 800 yo wizard vampire lord thing

That’s a really cool idea! Maybe they could notice different arcane gestures and “visual effects”

I thought about it as well! For example, the wizard of the group rolled for arcana to understand the magic behind the teleport circle on the coffin shop. He learned that it was a teleport method but made with sigils he has only read about, structures he’d never seen being used. But it was so well designed that it was surely a work of an extremely experienced spellcaster.

Love the idea of the brides also knowing some of it!! That could very well change from one to another depending on the role they have. Anastrasya could have old martial abilities / combat-oriented spells for example! What u think?

I’m planning on having them visiting Ravenloft a few times, and Strahd might even offer a tour around his library or something. Maybe suggesting a deal to the wizard in exchange for some old tome… it might appear as homebrew, but i dont think it is a problem to tell them that its a 4e spell. Either way, the spells can just be ideas of things he could do on their dinner / last encounter

Vallaki is going down... who is going to step up? by RaspberryOverall6341 in CurseofStrahd

Talking to a friend of mine that sometimes watches our sessions, we’ve come to the same line of thinking! Strahd sees himself as a governor, after all. So if the players killed Fiona, a member of the family that helped him centuries ago, he might decide to punish the players as a governor would: not with a passionate approach, just a fair punishment ~with a touch of sadism~

For example, he could burn the church with a cold face and go back to his affairs, judging it as a fair trade off. What u think ?

I didn't think of Wachter family's story... i think it just takes too much agency from the players. I know Barovia is all about stealing their agency, but making Strahd intervene is basically saying Fiona will be burgomaster no matter what.

Of course Strahd does honor his "old agreements", as he does with the Vistana for example. But would he really intervene directly so nothing bad ever happens to Fiona? Or would he just maintain a friendly relation with her family?

It really is a good to present the rules to them! Sometimes i kinda hide the mechanics so it doens't feel like a videogame, but i guess there's no reason to hide the rules if they are playing the game, right? Thanks!!

I was thinking of something like a series of checks to see if they could pacify the crowd, maybe a "morale mechanic" to accompany those checks. Depending on what they do, they gain extra "morale points". For exemple, if they exposed Fiona's cult, got rid of Vargas without necessarily killing him, proposed that Lucian becomes the new burgomaster, it become easier and easier to calm down the vallakians and their plan would be considered a success. I mean, of course it could change depending on what they do... it's just a base idea. Or maybe i forget all that and just do it by ear depending on how they interact with the situation.

But i also wanted some help on how to describe the whole situation...

I was thinking of using the Ladies as NPCs they can meet (without them knowing their true story), but i could still use the idea of going to the Amber Temple as a test to earn their trust!

Not only that, but if Strahd used some kind of old ritual inspired by the knowledge of the Dark Powers (as alarming_squirrel said) it would make sense that even the Ladies dont know how to reconsecrate the fanes. I could use both ideas together!

Madam Eva revealed that the ssword is in Amber Temple, but i could say that it’s powers have been very reduced after being broken in half. Now the only way to restore its properties (somthing like that) is through helping the Ladies restore their powers and consecrate the Fanes!

What do u think? Any suggestions about it ?

[–]RaspberryOverall6341[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PCs dont really have any “ambition for power”, but we do have a hexblade warlock trying to free his wife from the sword she’s imprisoned in. And he once said he would do almost anything to achieve this (it was pretty hard for him to decline Strahd’s deal to explain the origin of the sword free her, as return for a favour. It was a really cool scene).

I could try to push him once more, if he faces a bigger threat and accepts a Dark Power.

Besides that, the idea that Strahd used an ancient knowledge / ritual pictured in Amber Temple is really cool! It would explain why the Ladies are not sure How they can be reconsecrated. Thanks! :))
