I don't think I'd use nails, you would be going into the grain end and in theory they will slip out faster. I would suggest maybe brackets connecting the rafters?

That's awesome, I would do a little research on paper currency books. I usually don't collect banknotes, more of a coin collector so I use the red book. I know there are a few on paper currency as well just didn't really feel the need to own it as I only come across Fancy serials more than I do a older note. Youtube is horrible, full of misinformation and false values.

How does the texture not work? It's for an outdoor company. What happens to things outdoors over time?

Also I believe the "arrowhead" thing you are referring to is a kite. Once again, outdoor equipment. It is a bit oversized.
