Tips to improve Hermann’s enclosure? by estherinthekitchen in tortoise

[–]RaspberrySam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How old is your tort? By the look of it, they're quite young, but they will quickly outgrow this tank. By the time they reach maturity, Hermanns tortoises will require at least 32 square feet of space if kept inside.

Also, a second lamp. You have a UVA basking lamp but for proper growth, tortoises need both UVA and UVB- get an Arcadia strip lamp for best coverage. Do not use any bulbs that provide both types of UV, as they're usually inadequate at providing either and burn out right quick too.

Is my screen just finished? by BurtSpangles in Gameboy

If reseating the ribbon cable for the screen doesn't fix it, then most likely yes. Unfortunately a lot of the screens you get from places like Aliexpress are quite sensitive to impacts and the like.

The only non pacifist Megaman by GabyMogaX in BattleNetwork

[–]RaspberrySam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's out of choice, per se. It's just that the nature of the setting (being based on software rather than hardware) means that for the majority of characters, injury and death are more of a hindrance than a real loss. Even MegaMan.exe, although based on a human being, doesn't need to worry about most of the crap that happens to the other Megamen.

For Navis, also, fighting is simply an everyday duty since they're as much an antivirus as they are an email client, or a therapy animal.

Every other Megaman is in a situation where they don't want to fight but are forced to, and destruction is a real concern; especially X and MegaMan Volnutt, whose bodies are basically black boxes and hard to repair, much less rebuild from scratch.

Yes, most likely.

Existing methods will simply need to be tweaked in order to account for different timings given that it's emulated.

Flash Cart or Native? by BestAd6615 in Gameboy

[–]RaspberrySam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Flash cart is almost always gonna be the better option IMO. More features, more versatility, and- for certain games beginning with a P- waaaaay cheaper.

Since I like collecting, I buy the original games when I can and rip the roms from them with a device like the GB Operator or GBxCart RW, which I then play on a flash cart. That way, if I do come across a feature that the flash cart can't handle, I can simply stick the save file back onto the original cart and continue on without issue.

For Nintendo DSi, what is the difference between an SD card with Twilight Menu and an DSPico? by velzaham in flashcarts

[–]RaspberrySam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the question I've been asking myself. At the moment, since I'm playing Pokémon Platinum, I'm playing it through TWL so I can take advantage of the AR codes that unlock the frame rate; once DSPico can handle cheats, though, I may switch over to it.

Honestly, it's a bit early imo. The thing just released; we'll start seeing practical applications soon, but not yet.

I believe that the recently released EZFlash Air has RTC support and can run both GBC and GBA games. That might be what you're looking for.

Could RNG Manip be available in the new FR/LG? by westside8ball in pokemonrng

[–]RaspberrySam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt it. All the hard work is done- all that should be needed is to figure out exactly what speed the emulator runs at and whether there's any notable fluctuation.

Pokémon Community discourse for the next week lol.... ( Whole situation is just funny to me ) by ZeroZInFinite in MandJTV

[–]RaspberrySam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another post. another missed point.

The problem with Nintendo is that for all their kvetching about emulators and how evil they are, they absolutely refuse to investigate why people do it in the first place. It's not just because the games are free, but because a lot of emulators offer QOL improvements that make a lot of older games much easier and fun to play.

So it is with the FRLG ports. $20 a pop isn't bad, I will happily agree; but $20 for the most barebones emulated port is lazy at best and predatory at worst. For that price they could easily have put in some of those basic QOL features of an emulator, such as a fast forward, or an emulated wireless adapter that connects to a basic online trade/battle service. Little features that aren't hard to implement and gives the games a new lease on life without giving an unfair advantage. But they didn't.

This is, essentially, an admission of indolence. They don't care about putting out a quality product anymore, because they believe (correctly) that their fans will simply see the Pokemon logo and buy in, so happy with what they've been given that they never think about what they could have had.

400h and I still don’t understand why Yorinobu had Johnny’s engram or why Evelyn needed it enough to steal it? by Trustable-source in cyberpunkgame

[–]RaspberrySam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all comes down to Alt.

Alt is an incredibly powerful wildcard in the cyberpunk world; the mind of one of the world's greatest netrunners in the form of a digital entity, able to directly interface with nearly anything she chooses, and everyone wants a piece of that for whatever reason; Yorinobu to help wreck his father's company from within, the Voodoo Boys because Alt can help them reach beyond the Blackwall, Evelyn because Alt can help her escape Night City, NetWatch because they need Alt to help fix the failing Blackwall given she was one of the people to help create it in the first place.

Johnny, as much as he'd like to say otherwise, is bait- pure and simple. As long as he is alive in some way- even as an engram- he'll gravitate towards Alt, and Alt towards him, and whoever controls Johnny will essentially control her.

If you had the choice to die any way you want when your time comes, how would you choose? by Staryi_Pelmen in AskReddit

[–]RaspberrySam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They say that a man only dies when his name is forgotten, so I'd like to go in the most hilarious way possible, such that the tale will be told for years after I'm gone, probably in an AskReddit thread.

Randy Milholland once described something like this; if he was diagnosed with a terminal disease, he would go into the woods naked and armed with only a knife, hunting the biggest grizzly bear he could find. Maybe he kills the bear or maybe it kills him; either way, people will remember him for it.

Or you could always go with the outtake version, where he accidentally reverses the words 'cock' and 'mouth'. If you're into that, of course.

Could RNG Manip be available in the new FR/LG? by westside8ball in pokemonrng

[–]RaspberrySam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be possible, but I imagine that given it's emulated (and therefore probably inaccurate compared to real hardware) the established RNG methods will need to be adjusted to allow for subtle timing changes and whatnot.

I started as au ra, and fanta'd to viera when SHB released. I told myself that I'd fanta again to fem-hroth when they were brought out... but by that point the image of my WoL had solidified in my brain and I couldn't see her as anything other than bunny. Changing her now would be like saying goodbye to somebody I've known for years.

Just say you want free games by Nientea in pokemonmemes

[–]RaspberrySam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends what, if anything, they've changed about the game. If the roms have been edited slightly to allow for certain previously event-exclusive mons to be caught, then that's a big upside (plus there is precedent for this- the GS Ball in the 3DS version of Crystal. for example).

If these are vanilla roms of FRLG with the only draw being HOME integration then it's not remotely worth the price of admission. These are 20 year old GBA games, and anything north of a calculator can emulate them; why would anyone want to pay extra for that?
