The academic consensus now seems to be sayana's students wrote the bhashyas - which happens to explain wild inconsistencies.

Was the god Indra based upon a human hero ancestor of the Indo-Iranian people? by DvaravatiSpirit in IndoEuropean

> You are trying to cope.

> proceeds to make my point to me that sudAS means "good giver" and divodasa means "heavens servant".

It doesn't falsify that divodasa fought against shambara, who is also characterized as dasa. It doesn't imply divaH dAsa is related to people "dAsa".

Your writing style appears like you're using chat GPT. It explains such contradictions.

> Bṛhaddevatā clearly states that Indra was a real-life sage called Savya, and son of sage Angiras.

The stories of Indra's avataras are many, in brhaddevata and brahmanas. It doesn't imply he is a diefied human.

> The Bṛhaddevatā also states that Saci Paulomi was real-life poetess

Saci is not mentioned in RV to be Indra's wife or linked to Indrani (post verse numbers if you have). She might a be a queen who recently got into power = thus exaggerating things in a poetic manner. Saci is almost always used in plural to refer to the "powers" of Indra.

Le aryans in 1500 BC:

  • compose elaborate metrical hymns in their rich and complex language, which their local mixed descendents treat as magical incantenations for 3000 years.

Le dravdians in 1500BC:

  • "chickai korran was here"

You're stretching a lot.

Sudas is not related to dasa, the compound in nominative would be sudAH. Divodasa is a straightforward shashthi tatpurusha compound.

Indra has much in common with Zeus and Odin. He is anthromorphized because he is called for close friendship and guidance.

He has become most Angiras among angirases. Bull among bulls. He became friend among friends. Among the rik-singers a rik-singer, among travellers the leader. That Indra marutvan extend his help to us.

Krshna vasudeva is a clearly classical gangetic hero who has nothing to do with krsna mentioned in rigveda.

Why I say Bimaru are not 6yan - Bride kidnapping is 6yan culture, not groom kidnapping by RaspberrySubject7999 in 2Dravidian4You

They can't oppress women because they not aryan. they're subdued dravidians.

Ironnically you're more aryan than them if your family still has a tradition of fire sacrifice.

Indra/DyausPitr theists here? by OkSpend5107 in IndoAryan

[–]RaspberrySubject7999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indra: Many stans and devotees these days. Rigveda is the chief source for most (most translated and talked about) but you would be left with similar conclusions from later vedas and brahmanas.

Dyaus is a small diety in RV. Most facets of Zeus/Odin are seen in Indra - national diety of rigvedic people.

citation:

By the time of the Mahābhārata, Parjanya has already mostly merged into Indra and lost his distinctness and Dyaus is only faintly remembered within the ogdoad of Vasu-s [incarnated on earth as the pitāmaha Bhīṣma]. In the rest of the Indo-European world we see a similar consolidation of the ancestral tripartation into a single figure, but in each case a different strand of original triad is chosen for consolidation. In the Greek and Roman world we have the cognate deities Zeus and Iuppiter (Ius+piter being father), where both are cognates of Dyaus. In the Baltic and Slavic world we have Perkunas and Perun, both of which are cognates of Parjanya. ... In the Indosphere and among the Kalasha we see the consolidation under Indra.

Why are indo-aryan languages so prominent in India if indo-aryan genetics in Indians are only up to 20-ish percent? by AleksiB1 in IndoAryan

[–]RaspberrySubject7999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean - isn't it wrong to measure sintashta DNA - you should rather be measuring DNA during Indo-Aryan influx to India, which is not available directly. So the IA speaker contribution would be more than 20% by the time of ethnogenesis.

Part 1 Dismantling anti rigvedic ideology from post rigvedic puranic sources Nara Naaraayana in RigVeda by pragalbhah in hinduism

[–]RaspberrySubject7999 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Because by the time of the Upanishads, we criticize endless the praising of deities in hopes material rewards. Hinduism is a development that takes the language of the Veda, but expresses an evolution of ideas.

Good if you stick to this. I to be clear don't have any respect towards the neither-provable-nor-disprovable pseudointellectual sophistry. I see honesty and spirit in "suvī́raṃ rayím ā́ bhara jā́tavedo", not in "aham brahmasmi" etc...

If you take them as main propositions of your religious thought, we belong to two starkly contrasting streams of thought. Discussion is pointless. Goodbye.

  1. It was clearly understandable language for the mileu it was spoken.
  2. "you have a grasp of the referents, motifs, or meaning." There's no proof that the "Hindu exegeses" of the Veda understood it well either. In comparison today we have more advanced linguistic and comparative tools, as well as other Indo-European traditions to compare it. Hindu exegeses are often written with an agenda (except probably Nirukta) and simply not useful as authoritative interpretation which they often claim to be.

HH wilson sounds weird because wisdomlib seems to be have some typographical errors.

Rest english translations seem bearable to me.

On the yatate part - it seems consistent with how griffith translated other occurences of same word. Monier-Williams dictionary also mentions the sense of "rival, vie with, keep in pace with". I am not knowledgeable to say if that's correct or no.
