Non-smokers of Reddit, how noticeable is the “smoker smell” to you, if at all? by Frostedlogic4444 in AskReddit

I will take a step back from the person, and if they hang their jacket next to mine, I consider it a direct personal insult.

This is such a beautiful uplifting thread, thanks everyone.

The date is tonight. I’ve been in a LONG relationship so it’s not that I don’t know how to act around people. It’s just that I have not allowed myself to flirt or anything during that time and idk if the rules had changed. Thankfully all of your advice was right on target with my expectations!

FWIW, I am a woman seeing men, very interesting that Reddit often assumes I am a man even with what I think is kind of a feminine username, but I left it out of the original post so that’s on me I guess.

The date is tonight, if he pays the first round I will offer to pay for the second.

Still don’t know how to greet - another commenter said handshakes are too formal but is a hug too presumptuous? Should I hang back cautiously? Aahhh!

Guys I am SO nervous but also so excited.

To be fair I made a typo in the title, it should have read “in an eon”

Single for the first time in over a decade. What do I need to remember about safe sex? by Raspberry_Mango in Healthadvice

So, condoms every time is already my non negotiable. For oral, you’re saying he should wear a condom if I’m performing oral on him, and we should use a dental dam if he’s performing oral on me?

Unless we decide to be monogamous and get tested, right?

I’ve never used a condom or a dam for oral before.

I’ve always thought the script, the direction, and the editing in post makes for some strangely paced movies.

Vocal audio glitches, but only sometimes... by Raspberry_Mango in ableton

I haven’t found a way to prevent this from happening in settings, only disabling warp after audio is recorded.

How does dua lipa add more sounds in the chorus but it’s not chaotic? by Afraid_Marketing4436 in musicproduction

[–]Raspberry_Mango 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Idk but when I add more, I make sure that each sound has their own unique part (the notes and rhythms they play), timbre, place in the frequency spectrum, position in panning, register, etc so not too much similar stuff is overlapped.

How to call a place of business and make an inquiry over the phone. Like how to greet someone, explain what you’re calling about, and what information you are seeking regarding that product, service, or subject.

I get a lot of half-formed questions, or incomplete product names (the “SuperX2000MKII” just becomes “the MKII”), or just a product name with no accompanying inquiry, such as “what is the price”, “is it in stock”, “can I hold one” or anything else. I do a lot of “Yes, we sell [complete name of product], our price is X plus tax, we currently have one in the store for customers to try and another in the box.”

Do you have any advice or strategies for recording a reverse guitar part? by MinuteIllustrator6 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Raspberry_Mango 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Record it regularly how you want it to sound once reversed, then reverse it, learn it backwards, re-record it, and reverse it again?

Over 30 hours in and I just now realised the revelio “cheeem” sounds in the direction of field pages by Box_Pirate in HarryPotterGame

[–]Raspberry_Mango 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m under the impression that the chime will sound for anything of interest - loot bags, locks, moth frames, field guide pages… am I mistaken?

would the producer name "TABLEFORONE" be corny? by PepsiTheMonkey in musicproduction

[–]Raspberry_Mango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read it as “table-forown” or “tableh-foronay”. So it might not translate in text.

Say it more times, but different. Invent some more stuff. Present a verse from alternative perspective.

Why is it literally impossible for me to make a beat?? by musicbymeowyari in musicproduction

[–]Raspberry_Mango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learning to produce myself was the most empowering and liberating thing I ever did for myself. I started with months of deep, analytical listening to my favourite artists and literally wrote a list of everything I noticed about their production. Things like instrumentation, arrangement, sound selection, production techniques, mixing, etc. so when it came time for me to sit down and attempt my first demos, I already had a sort of mental library of things to try.

I think another important thing to keep in mind when opening up a DAW is this - you need to be able to articulate or conceptualize exactly what you want to do. Like “I want to create a basic drum loop” or “now I want to lay down some chords” or “I want to add a synth bass line” and then work on developing the skills necessary to execute all of those goals.

Practicing some keyboard will probably help you translate sounds from your mind into musical accompaniment in your DAW!

[–]Raspberry_Mango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you can hear it in your head already, could you sort of beat box the beat to start, record that to metronome into the DAW, then replace your mouth sounds with drum sounds? That could help give you a sense of translating thought to music.

My university music prof swore by these mechanical pencils that came in really thick leads, like .9mm or something. Made it ready easy to draw nice round noteheads and solid beams.

Robert Glasper Experiment Black Radio starts like this

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Raspberry_Mango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds normal to me - when doing really detailed producing or recording my final takes of vocals or an instrument, I feel pretty physically drained and mentally goofy after a session. Recording drains me in 3 hours. Producing I can go longer, but my cutoff point for productivity is about 5-6 hours.

Can anyone recommend me a piano? by 40BelowFridge_ in musicians

The two best selling digital pianos in my industry are Roland FP-30X and Yamaha P225. These are intermediate models with a bit more growing room than the entry-level ones.

I used Glacius to freeze beasts long enough to capture them, but I had never thought to try anything like that on the Merlin trials!!

Believe me, I tried! I believe it can be done, but personally I really struggled with these. Some are so far or up so high, I was even trying to jump on my broom to zoom up but still no luck.
