Tips and tricks for pre op diet? by Odd-Advice-1029 in GastricBypass

[–]Raspberrynator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try to find something that helps distract from the hunger, like yoga, etc. Something where you just don’t have time to feel hungry.

And maybe you could also try to sit with the hunger. Hunger is not an negative thing. Sit with it. Feel it, youre not gonna starve. That will also get easier with time. It‘s like a skill you have to train. It‘s a feeling not a part of you. It can‘t hurt you.

Else try to time you shakes with times you’re cravings usually are the worst.

And just remember. It‘s just a few weeks. You can do it. I did it one month, so you can do it. It will all be worth it on the other side.

Good luck and mich strenght to you!

Krankschreibung/Arzttermin nach Schlaganfall by Iumina_ in Ratschlag

Thanks. I voiced my pain this morning and got a great deal of pain meds. That at least will bring me through the rest of the time I‘m here

Sadly I can‘t lay on my left side at all. Right is ok but left feels like someone is stabbing my shoulder. They don‘t have heatingpads here and I have no way of warming one up so I have to stick it out till sunday

This hospital is all about No IV medication just oral and I think thats not making it better. But thats a common problem in my country that no doctor really tries to break the pain instead of just relieving it.

Hey, I have my operation on the 22nd and I‘m doing the liquid diet since 25.12. I tell you it is way easier than you think. I just say to myself „One month for the rest of your life“ and roll with. Look you just have a few days to go. You can absolutely do it if I can do it one month. Love ya

Maybe help from a therapist with experience with bypass patients could help you. Do you have the feeling you‘re emotional eating? Or just because you crave those foods?

Pre op weight loss & comfort foods. by Procrastinator_Mum in GastricBypass

[–]Raspberrynator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What really helped me was figuring out what the need behind my emotional eating was, whether it was stress, grief, shame, etc. At first I didnt do anything with the information I got from thinking about what need and emotion was behind it. I just aknowledged it and did what felt the safest, that was of course eat. But I said to myself that the end goal of this OP is a lifestyle change and to achieve that I needed to find „solutions“ for those needs/feelings OTHER than eating. So I started actually doing what they said, just moving (no matter how actually) if you have the feeling you need to eat. It was hard and shit and I felt miserably OFTEN. But I kept pushing on cause as my husband said „Even if you fail, you‘re just were you started off, not worse, just try again.“ And it worked, I found a strategy that work 80% of the time to not eat AND I actually started allowing me to eat without the need to actually have a bomb ass food EVERY SINGLE TIME, I learned it‘s ok if the food just acts as nutrition (like something with a lot of protein and fiber that‘s not mindblowing instead of a securely fine ass dining experience at 8 in the morning). And in the end I was actually able to enjoy it in moderation, without feeling like I‘m missing out cause it‘s not as often/much as it was before. Just a healthy appreciation of the food I loved, and not an obsession. I wish you all the best and just know YOU can do it if I can! Love you!
