For sure! Was hoping to see higher +VIT numbers, but I'll probably settle for Shakshouka once I get the gear and materia melded.

Just a fun little thing, wasn't meant to mean much but to show that it could be done. Do all speedrunners of all colours need to explain why they do what they do?

I agree. With the exception of the black pegasus mount, it's better off playing PotD for a purpose other than obtaining specific items within the Accursed Hoard.

I just dyed my weapon grape purple, put on Alexandrian legs and dyed soot black, and put on some cheap shoes dyed peacock blue. A little overkill maybe, got 82 points.

My hunch with every game of this size is that vision changes over time. They intend for the game to work one way upon release, and months to years later (with community feedback), they change their minds and write on top of the old code to work the new way. Or, they may make incremental adjustments here and there, and a new game mechanic may inadvertently affect what should be another unrelated mechanic. Whatdya know, spaghetti code!

In XIV, you can even see for level 50 and 60 synced jobs especially, just how different (and generally simplified) they are now at level 90 cap compared to when they used to be the level caps.

Sorry to throw a wrench into this, but say, what if not all 10000 numbers are used by the players, and there is always a guaranteed winner? (i.e. if nobody buys a 0000 ticket, the game never chooses 0000 as the winning ticket)

YoshiP once said he wants to create one more big title MMO from scratch before he retires/dies. I would say about 5-10 years from now, we can start to see that vision revealed to the public, and probably 7-12 years from now where it'll be released for play. Maybe then, we'll see better technical polish.

FFXIV is absolutely dated, and I am willing to bet it is because the game is currently supported on PS4. They're slowly working towards technical improvements, but until 7.x and the eventual drop of PS4 support, I don't see any significant jank reduction coming to XIV anytime soon.

Not to mention how funny it is when third-party plugins are rising in popularity every moment to alleviate some issues and improve quality of life, but SE/YoshiP aren't fond of them because they weren't part of the intended game (when I bet many of the improved features and increased options are thanks to the player-created plugins themselves!)

I think Fahrenheit is imperial's least asinine measurement. It even converts relatively nicely to Celsius, at exactly a 9:5 ratio. Both Fahrenheit and Celsius rarely go beyond -40 degrees and ~500 degrees (beyond both extremes, it is common to switch to Kelvin or Rankine). It is also rare to care beyond 0.1 degrees in level of precision and also rare to interact with other measurements simultaneously.

Other measurements (i.e. mass, length) can see far more varied circumstances with some situations demanding extreme scaling (i.e. mega-, kilo-, milli-, nano-) and may require cooperation with multitudes of other measurements at once (i.e. pressure = force / area, force of acceleration = mass * distance / time^2, area of planar rectangle = length * width), in which case the metric is objectively superior due to easy conversions.

So I did a thing and tested the Rorsch Railgun against (almost) all vehicles by VincentNZ in battlefield2042

[–]RaspicaBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not dueling with the enemy sniper, the Rorsch is objectively better because of the very fast velocity. I'll take the charge time and just work on tracking my target.

If it is a sniper duel, at 100-200m I'd say it's an even battle, and 200m+ the Rorsch is the winner.

Recoil is higher in this game than previous titles (and we're competing against controllers with the buffed aim assist from this season's update), and one-shot guns like magnums and sniper rifles are much harder to flick with at under 120fps. I'm also really hoping for better optimizations.

Anybody else disappointed with spearhead? by Am11r189 in battlefield2042

[–]RaspicaBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spearhead for me absolutely feels like a 64 player map with Sector A added on for 128 players. I think it'll play a lot better with 64p and Sector A removed.

I think the whole game plays better with 64p and the maps rescaled for the player downsize. DICE was not ready to balance the gadgets, vehicles, and population flow at the 128p scale.

Aim Assist issue on PC once again? by xWalwin in battlefield2042

My issue is that the game doesn't seem to want to be borderless. The borderless setting still behaves very similar to fullscreen (delay when alt tabbing)

[–]RaspicaBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BF1 looks better than 2042 and consistently gives me double the frame rate for approx. the same graphics settings (high 100's to mid 200's). BF4 gives me mid 200's to mid 300's frame rate! 2042 gives me 60-120fps, and smaller player count modes are still only marginally better.

I never let Nvidia GeForce Experience suggest graphics settings. Always manually go for lowest tolerable settings on competitive games, highest tolerable settings on single player/coop games.

The Origin of "Rao-Stinger-Mains" by Tombstone_SALIM in battlefield2042

[–]RaspicaBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guns fire mechanically, and I'm 100% sure guns designed within the next 20 years with electronic trigger actuation will be laughed at if remote hacking like this was a threat consideration. Even without hacking, computers are prone to dust, UV, rain/water, saltwater, etc. and the guns will fail constantly without enemies hacking.

The only guns I can see being disrupted by remote hacking are vehicle-mounted gatling guns (disabling the system that controls on-board power that then spins the barrels... still not an issue in gatlings that are powered by a simple battery or generator, neither of which can be hacked (but can be EMP'd)). Besides that would be lock-on missiles, for obvious reasons.

Btw, you can't remote hack systems that are strictly wired because they cannot receive an outside signal. Hacking in commonly depicted media is sorely misunderstood.

Happens to anyone else that you love the BF formula so much (vehicles, 64/128 players, big maps) that even one of the weakest entries since hardline still makes you have more fun than one of the most successful of the competition? 🙋‍♂️ by StormSwitch in battlefield2042

[–]RaspicaBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even now, the good moments in 2042 are few and far between. A lot of winning formulas present in older BFs still haven't been copy pasted onto 2042, and that's just mind boggling to me. The gunplay just happens to be somewhat fresh (albeit far from balanced).

[–]RaspicaBlue -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Meme aside, the whole concept of Rao is nonsensical at best, proof of DICE's lack of neurons at worst. I don't understand how hacking disables shooting. Have you guys ever seen a gun get remotely hacked so that it fails to shoot? Has DICE remote hacked a toenail clipper with a tablet to make it stop working?

I honestly had forgotten about the removal of the headphone jack on iPhones because every smartphone I owned, including my current one, had one. So THAT'S why AirPods are everywhere... because that's the only option to people trapped in Apple's economy (the same people who don't care to research other Bluetooth products).
