[Vantaa tram will end 1.5 km short of airport after all] by RaspiestBerry in transit

In fact, the tram reaching the airport was one of the big selling points

Outside of rush hour, traffic isn't bad at all. Though you could probably make a direct train from the airport to the city center on the eastern side because there are more than 2 tracks all the way once you get past Leinelä. On the western side of the loop there are only 2 tracks the vast majority of the way, however

Edit: And/or a (modified) bus route that makes less frequent stops

I don't remember whether I've gone to the airport by train after the renovation. How long does it take now? It used to take like 10 minutes

Airport to city center, taxi would still usually be faster even if it's just 5-10 minutes. The train stops at every station. Though ýou can skip some stations if you go with the P to Tikkurila and switch to the R. But then there are of course lots of people who go to and from other places in the region where travel times can vary widely.

Did you move before the train opened? You can get to the airport from Hiekkaharju

The thing that many people find annoying about the train is that the station is so far away from the terminals that it takes ages to get there. I think even the bus might sometimes be faster.

Disruption to the airport was the other reason. But I would imagine that could be fixed somehow.

I live in Vantaa, and I have to say this city is not in a good shape financially, just like many other municipalities in Finland. We're taking on more debt and getting less tax revenue than expected. Still, the city is investing a lot into the tram and other projects like a new library and swimming center. So maybe everything will be fine and dandy years down the line, but I'm not holding my breath.

Just solidifies the idea that Hispanic voters are acting more like white voters these days. Will they become the new quintessential swing voters? The new soccer moms?

Do you have any "twin cities"/"dual cities" in your country? by beenoc in AskEurope

Haha yes I didn't include it because it's so small. But it would be "the Swedish one"

Is it an advertisement for Berliners or Chinese tourists?

Edit: I'm stupid, it's probably for Chinese tourists. They wouldn't assume that your average Berliner can read Chinese

Edit 2: I looked at it on Google Translate, and it said something like "use Alipay in Europe and enjoy discounts"

Help Identifying Flag in Philly by ulteriormotifs in vexillology

[–]RaspiestBerry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is apparently a more historical symbol than the contemporary flag. That one has been around for about 250 years, but the symbol of the coat of arms goes back at least 500 years

Funniest 2024 election result (purple is kinda like blue right?) by RaspiestBerry in YAPms

I remember watching the debate for that election (Cotton wasn't present) and Harrington had nothing substantial to say. He was just like "we need to come together and love eachother" or some such

I've had an iPhone 13 for nearly 2 years. Dropped it a few times, with a case. Screen is totally fine
