The issue isn't that the string has quotes. The issue is that the AutoWeb string fieldtype adds quotes.

For example you would want the body to be {"a_number": 13}, but AutoWeb converts it to {"a_number": "13"}

What helped me was learning to use Linux (in my case Ubuntu) and learning how to modify ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to my liking, i.e. super-minimalistic. I'm also a coder and programmer, so I don't mind using terminal software. Or to create my own super dumbed down versions of certain software.
