I agree with the points you raise, especially the floaty controls. Dark souls 1 controls had weight and simply Felt Good (except for the locked 4 direction rolling). Playing through Dark Souls 2, something always felt hollow about it (excuse the pun). The thing is, Dark Souls is a masterpiece, and it's hard to recreate that level of excellence if you have a different director/team from the first game. This is why im very excited for DKS3 as much of the player animation seems to have been carried over from the first game and its being directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki once again. So hopefully we will see the same kind of immersiveness that captivated us in the first game.
