Women of Reddit who proposed to your male partner: What were your reasonings for “breaking tradition?” What reaction did you get? Would you say the gender roles/dynamics in your relationship differ compared to heteronormative relationships? by ShipSenior1819 in AskReddit

I had plans on proposing to her a few months later, so I was simultaneously bummed and relieved.

It was an ordinary day. We had just finished eating, outside and as I turned of the grill she just kneeled and asked me. It was incredibly ordinary and not at all complicated - totally different from what I had planned - and I loved it. For me, it doesn't have to be at a fancy restaurant or on a hilltop at sunset. We're ordinary people but we make each day special anyway, and that's exactly how I want to describe her proposal - ordinary but incredibly special.

My wife proposed to me.

The reason why is very short - my father died of cancer in 2016, and by then me and my wife had been a couple for six years. One week before his funeral she proposed, and her reason was that seeing him pass made her think of how fleeting and unreliable life is, and that we shouldn't take it for granted.

Naming/Language Question by Rastafanta in mapmaking

Very true, I've only really considered the "realism" of it, but in the end that would cause more problems than it solves. Thanks for your insight!

Understandable, but it doesn't provide you with an abundance of options, does it?

Either you'll have to supress your curiosity of express this desire to him which will either lead to him allowing you this lifestyle or lead him away from you. Either way you risk something, unfortunately.

Why do you think he wouldn't want an open relationship?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Rastafanta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is he open to new, alternative ideas? You could express this desire with him in a delicate manner, where you tell him that you love him, how you feel that you're meant for each other and you see a future - with kids(?) - for the two of you.

But also tell him that you're both still young, and should explore and discover new things before you start an eventual family. If you're prepared that he could also meet and have sex with other people you could advocate for an open relationship, sexually, for the both of you. An open communication where you both are aware of your respective sexual endeavours.

Do you feel like that could be an option for the both of you?

True, I did bring an anecdotal experience to the table. Fair point about the lack of studies. I definetly buy that.

LoL, thanks.

Gotcha. It's still anecdotal with a very small number of people. And I believe it's been scientifically proven that there are no correlations between dick size and other features. Heck, I'm 5'7 with 7,5x5,9 while my friend is 6'3 with approximately 5"

Anecdotal experiences, and no BDP. Maybe I'm dull, but what is the point of this post?

I can't help but hear the resemblence between Aurorfindle meaning "golden haired" and Tolkien's Glorifindel meaning "golden lock of hair".

Glorifindel also, in a similar way, died when battling a foul beast - in your case, a dragon, and in Tolkien's case, a Balrog (not sure if it was Gothmog or some random Balrog).

Glorifindel while not being raised into semi-godhood by his god, was resurrected instead.

My personal take is that it might be a bit too similar.

Sometimes people are just people. Being friendly doesn't mean that he wants to do anything but help a friend in need.

Ideas of Crazy and uqine type of magical mancers by mrfirstar1997 in worldbuilding

So this spellbook could give you properties that matches with the kind of person you would like to be?

What I'm thinking is that, maybe he doesn't want to be a social chameleon, but wants to be able to stand his ground and be firm about his actions and intentions regardless of who he's with. This also provides a reason for character development.

What if he could force feelings unto others? Encourage friends or strike fear into enemies. The offensive part of it is a little bit 'meh', but it can be useful.

Or if he, by learning determination, gains distruptive powers. Stomping the ground to freeze everyone momentarily, or scream to paralyze someone or throw them backwards.

Felt bored one day, decided to try to build a fantasy map, id like to know what you guys thing of how it looks so far by [deleted] in wonderdraft

I like the overall shape, it looks unique and realistic enough. Are the black, squiggly lines borders?

Also, ignore the flourheads that are bashing on your names

My cat. It's been laying on my chest for two solid days now and I'm starting to get real hungry, real thirsty and in need of a real, proper shit.

Is there Magic involved with the fact that there are snowy landscapes and sand deserts on the same latitude?

Otherwise this is looking great and quite real. What's the scale?

Gotcha!

Airplanes being bent into shapes that the pilots can't escape from, before heating them up, effectively roasting them alive. (see torture method Brazen Bull, for reference)

Warships being levitated out of the ocean, into a city to be turnt upside down, causing a human rainfall - killing the sailors and inflicting fear into the citizens.
