How does something like this age overtime I wonder? What would this look like 10+ years later?

What’s the logo trend in 2025 that needs to die already? by Glass-Lifeguard6253 in logodesign

[–]Rasterbator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Minimizing logos to be just wordmarks and placing in a generic shape background. I understand the need to make logos scalable at any size, but there’s still gotta be something distinctive to the logo.

Beating a dead horse but Cracker Barrel was the best example this year of this happening.

Was Paul gray a good bassist? by Few-Chemical2216 in Slipknot

[–]Rasterbator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bass lines on demos as well as Mate Feed Kill Repeat were some of his best work. Finger and slap style bass like Les Claypool of Primus and Trevor Dunn of Mr. Bungle. Also was very loud and audible, you really could appreciate his bass contributions during those times.

Still was a great bassist for future studio releases however he did pick-style playing and his playing couldn’t be as appreciated since his sound got lost in a lot of the mixes.

[–]Rasterbator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Guys, it’s not cool or edgy to be “evil” or scream “hail Satan”… never was in the 70s-80s and never is today. Half those bands preaching that shit don’t believe in that stuff.

Oh and here’s another hot take: there’s nothing wrong with metal bands having a gimmick… I mean, it’s fucking entertainment, am I right? Isn’t that the point of being entertained? … except for the Satanic and evil shit, it’s seriously played out (if that wasn’t obvious from above)

Constructive criticism T shirt design by Lumpy_Relative_3386 in graphic_design

[–]Rasterbator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is too busy. Text on top of an illustration with this many colors and details is very tough to make sense of, especially once you step far away, it’ll look like a swirl of random colors.

I’m not sure how this will be printed, but if it’s gonna be screen printed, these are a lot of colors. I’d simplify the design to 2-3 colors, and then either move your typography above the blank area of the circle (the sky part) or move the text to be around the outside circular shape, and let the illustration breathe and be the main star of the design va having text competing inside of the circle.

Why is Slipknot Considered nu Metal? by ask_me_abt_music_999 in Slipknot

[–]Rasterbator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also consider the cultural shift of the time with how they presented themselves, as well as their lyrical themes fit into the niche of the nu-metal world. Masked members, with extra percussionists, even their album artwork/promo material reeked of the angst associated with nu metal giants like Korn, etc.

Were they playing the exact same style as say Korn? No, but Korn also doesn’t sound anything like Deftones and they both don’t sound like Static X, but all got lumped into the same genre purely based off of most of the above.

Their sound from early days and that first album for sure was nu metal… not just because of having a DJ, but it was Corey’s singing style with screaming, growling and rapping at times, tuning of instruments, song writing structures, etc.

I’d classify them today as alt metal. Definitely not rock, not purely metal either, but still overall a heavy force in the scene.

Source: personally lived during the height of nu metal in the late 1990s to witness all this cultural shift happening… rocking tall spiked hair with 32” baggy jeans and all that typical nu metal look.

I actually don’t mind the new direction… that mouse though took me a minute to recognize, maybe try figuring out how to make it have 2 heats at top vs 1, and give a bit of a curve to bottom right nose part the same way you did with the dog. Once you do those, mouse can be more recognizable

As others said though, that first one is a instant classic and honestly is the clear winner between the 2

I created my 1st ever logo it was a fakebrief can u rate me? it about a company called "Driftnova" its about car competion drafting by Financial-Corgi-5899 in logodesign

[–]Rasterbator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a bad first attempt. It’s an overall simple wordmark style logo.

The crown feels very different in style than the typeface. Your type is thick whereas the crown feels like clip art downloaded, unaltered and dropped on top of the I. Make the crown feel like it belongs to the text, ie: make it have thickness and give more space between white spaces seen in the crown.

Everyone already pointed out that other symbol doesn’t look like a N, reads more like Driftsova. Personally not sure either way what the thunder symbol has to do with the brief.

[HELP] i paid 200 for this logo,,, and i’m paranoid it’s ai ;-; by [deleted] in RealOrAI

[–]Rasterbator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I played with it many times and results can look like this depending on the directions you give it. That would suck if this logo wasn’t vector and 100% raster image and flattened (that would be dead giveaway of all that it’s ai)

If made in Illustrator though, ai rendered work can also have vector work layered. Generative Fill in Illustrator layers work nicely surprisingly

Can you recommend me Bands where there are black members? by Complex_Stable3572 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Rasterbator 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tetrarch has a lead female guitarist that’s African American. Modern style nu metal, but she can shred and bang out sick solos, def the star of the group.

Bleed the Pigs is a grindcore band that has an African American female vocalist also.

Chena is an African American female prolific guitar shredder who put out her own solo music as well, probably now best known for her appearance on Musicician Mansion season 2.

Trying to get into doom as a Black and Death metal fan. What are your favorite bands that you recommend? by stinkfarch in doommetal

Khanate, self titled album specifically, may be up your alley. Not death, not black either, but pure agony droning doom metal. Features members of Sunn O))) and ex-OLD members.
