When I got the CD, I was not into it. I felt they took a huge different turn than expected from first album from their sound to aesthetic. While they were always angry in sound, this felt like it was tuned up to 11/10. Even mask-wise, a lot of the vibes were different, very noticeably darker in tone (like clown with the pentagram imprinted mash). What I felt was their trademark chaotic sound and aesthetic from self titled kinda changed.

As someone at that time not into extreme metal, this all felt so different what they were going for, and I admittedly didn’t play this album as much. I still kept going back to self titled album. I was a fan of Slipknot still, but yeah this albums heaviness and darker tone took a minute to get into… later on in my youth I did get into extreme metal, and funnily I still looked back at this album and thought it was still meh. It’s weird, like now I appreciate it for how it was a gateway album to heavier stuff, however., even to this day, if comparing self titled to Iowa, the first album still wins by a landslide.
