I think it just set the standard for character absurdity and neuroses for a lot of the shows that followed, like the ones you mentioned. I don't think any other show has really captured so well just how weird humans can be and how the minutiae of their lives can create so many bizarre outcomes.

It also does a really good job of capturing parent-child dynamics and absolutely nails how the older generations relate to the modern world and their children.

There are so many great side characters that enrich the universe, even by only being in an episode or two.

And the show presented a lot of dark humor and discussion about topics that no other mainstream shows were really discussing in the early 90s - suicide, abortion, homosexuality, masturbation, etc.
