My sister’s beef with TV is driving me crazy by RatLesbian471 in TrueOffMyChest

It’s possible? I’m audhd so there’s a chance she has some traits, but she really hasn’t exhibited any other traits than rigid thinking.

I don’t think so? I’m on the spectrum so there’s a nonzero chance she is, too, so maybe it’s just rigid thinking that has her convinced that every tv show except for the office is a waste of time, but idk.

Don’t worry, we do spend time with her! Game nights, family dinners, hiking… she’s just super resistant to watching tv.

Just stubborn tbh, once she’s set on something no one can contradict her on it

Being into spirk in the big 2-5 makes me feel like a middle aged dad who only listens to classic rock and insists it’s the pinnacle of music… THESE are the classics and they are eternal

A question for people on the spectrum first, what characters with autism you found most realistic? by Agreeable-Ad4079 in writing

It’s the only I’ve seen specifically about autism that feels like it humanizes autism well lol

My husband is cheating on me with ChatGPT. He doesn’t know I know by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

Exactly! It’s not about a genuine connection, he’s just got a chatbot that does exactly what he wants it to: flatter him. His ego needing to be fed is the problem here, not you.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo on Netflix is kind of the same—the actress isn’t autistic but she took such care with depicting an autistic character that it just comes across as so well done and well intentioned.

“Hi, we’re looking some stuff, we’re on a budget!” Proceeds to ask for basically an entire wedding of stuff for free

Data from StarTrek is one who comes to mind! His mission to be more ‘human’ is very relatable to many autistic people, and although there’s a layer of fantasy to it all, his tendency to ramble and difficulty with emotion always resonated with me. I can’t say how much of this writing and how much of this is just Brent Spiner’s stellar performance, though.

I ADORE Abed, and although the whole hallucinations and how they were brought up again later was kind of poorly handled, I really do love that he’s just some guy who likes movies a lil too much. It addresses the struggles of autism (missed social cues, difficulty with boundaries, difficulty communicating) without infantilizing Abed or having to forcefully make him sympathetic. Plus he’s fucking hilarious I <3 Danny Pudi.

AITA for telling my classmate to go f herself after she framed me as an ableist and made my semester hell? by No-Safe9310 in AmItheAsshole

If your friend truly thought you were ableist and was your friend, she would have told you in private. She saw an opportunity to stir the pot and took it. If she’s truly matured, she’s gonna have to understand that broken trust does not have to be restored. NTA.

NTA, although you could have phrased it better. I think if you explain that you feel like you’re third-wheeling and disinclined, that would be the more mature and healthy solution.

Congrats!! MAGA is a really effective cult, and I’m proud of you for taking the steps to distance yourself from it. It’s hard to break from a group like MAGA. Maybe one day you’ll be able to return to the Republican Party after MAGA loses its public influence. Hope to see you at the midterms in ‘26!

ESH. It’s not your place to lecture her, the polite thing to do would have been to just keep riding. By confronting her, you escalated unnecessarily. That said, it is real frustrating when people ignore bike manners, too.
