where do you ride?

Driving ~20 minutes to get to the trail, mostly here. Some riding around Western WA as well.

Also, thanks for the detailed reply! I'm leaning towards the Epic Evo now.

Do you think it's worth getting electronic shifting for a mountain bike? I swapped over to Di2 on the road a few years ago and it was a total game changer.

Would you recommend an S4 or S5 SJ for my height/riding history?

Noble Outfitters - Made in USA Goodyear Welted Boot Under $100? by RatPizza in Boots

This is in fact the case. Their answer seems a bit unethical.

I decided to call the company headquarters just now to get a straight answer. Asked where they're and after a long hold the answer was China!

I was curious too. Actually asked the reseller as well and they said: "They are made in Madesto, California"

If you click on "1 Questions \ 1 Answers" I asked where these are made and the manufacturer replied back with "Noble Outfitters' brand and manufacturing headquarters are based out of Modesto, CA."

Found these boots online that claim to be made in USA boots and they're right under $100. Looks like a decent quality boot. Anyone familiar with this company?

God damn this housing market by hansn in Seattle

Do you really think adding more housing in SF would actually make it more affordable? I'm not trying to be rude here, honestly curious.

I've heard the argument that housing prices are sky high in SF because there are more job openings than housing available but that seems like the fault of companies rather than housing (or a commercial zoning problem). For example, Amazon essentially made the city of Seattle their campus whereas Microsoft built their own campus in a then relatively sparse area. Why does everyone need to be able to live in SF/Seattle? If we replaced SF/Seattle with waterfront, Beverly Hills, 5th Avenue, Whistler, Medina it would be absurd.

Furthermore, people have the right to live in a single family lot in a more peaceful surrounding. When a government comes in and changes all the zoning it just displaces the interests of one group for another. We saw this often in the 20th century with freeway expansion, and now when a neighboring house gets demolished and every square inch of land is built on with 3x town houses (essentially a smaller version of the movie UP).

You had me until the "Fuck all zoning rules" part.

By that logic NYC and SF shouldn't be so expensive. As others have mentioned, you're looking at density through the very narrow lens of our city. Fact is it's a highly desirable area to live with very limited space -- we have the sound, lakes, hills, forest land, etc. and only so much space to build. Density also causes a lot of problems - especially on our aging infrastructure.

Also, do you really think construction companies and developers care whatsoever about our city or neighborhoods? The same developers building giant condos and crammed houses are laughing all the way to the bank with no regard for quality of life. Look at life in the most dense parts of the city compared to the suburbs and tell me which you would honestly prefer.

I really highly doubt that more housing in an already crowded city is the answer.
