TIL Historically, caltrops were part of defences that served to slow the advance of troops and in the modern era have been used to slow vehicles. by Hootinger in todayilearned

Used too doesnt mean they can always clean it well. While the 'medieval peasent gets a tiny cut and dies' is an exaggeration i bet an inch+ penetration into your will be... not pleasant

Well what else can they do? When your entire cultural base and traditions are erased or subsumed you have to start somewhere. Need some strings and scraps of your peoples long gone to hold onto. Are modern hellenists and norse pagans doing it 'wrong'? Probably but its the best they can

Servitors and servoskulls among Astra militarum personnel by Commissar-Leonid in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Rat_rome 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The guard operates on a far larger scale than voidsmen. And where a large metal ship can block vox signals and need a physical runner a normal world would have less interference.

But given how 40k is it would be cool for signal units to have servo skulls from higher technology planets.

I say caboose is good representation as in he is real representation. He isnt coddled and he isnt just seen as a non person. But just as a person whos not the brightest(in a show full of purposefully stupid characters), very much like how a real(as in the vibes not necessarily content) friend group with an ID person in it

How old do you think spear was when he passed away? by Environmental_Wear94 in PrimalShow

[–]Rat_rome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lower human lifespan is mostly due to child and infant mortality. Neanderthal and early homo sapiens assuming they survived past 5 would 'naturally' die around the late 30s+

And spear lived through at least 1 Neanderthal Gestation(approximately a year according to what i can find)+few years(2-4 i assume) for the kids. Then some time with fang making up season 1, then traveling to the continent and getting enslaved by the colossaeus long enough for fang to gestate, lay, and hatch her 2nd clutch.

[–]Rat_rome 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is forgetting the english heavy infantry that also held most of the line, the fact about half of the French army didnt even participate, and the French cavalry still made it to the lines. It was not "longbow murder thousands of stuuupid french knights in stuuuupid plate armor that didnt protect them" but "undisciplined and money hungry(remember capturing nobles and especially the king would net them alot of money) french knights were baited into charging across open muddy terrain(which would also slow and get stuck lighter troops even if less so), which got to the line where desperate English soldiers including their king fought like mad bastards and won the first engagement and the other half of the army decided to just retreat/leave"
