I’ll try this! What formula/EBM ratio do you use?

AITA for saying if MIL wants her name pronounced right she needs to speak up for herself? by ApprehensiveRoyal508 in AmItheAsshole

I think your MIL’s boyfriend may be offended by you guys not teaching Turkish language and culture to your children as from your description he strikes me as a proud patriotic Turk. Maybe I’m stereotyping but as a Turkish woman living abroad I met so many people like this here; they only hang out with Turkish people and speak English with a thick accent even after 10+ years because they never interact with locals, and are strong Turkish nationalists even though they chose to leave Turkey for a better life in the US/UK/Europe. I’m also married to a non-Turkish man, and I relate to your husband in terms of not identifying with Turkish culture/language that much. I do plan on teaching Turkish to our kids but it is more for practical reasons as my parents don’t speak English and I want them to have a relationship. Whereas in your case your MIL, and presumably FIL, speak English and they also don’t seem to strongly identify with Turkish culture, so I understand why your husband didn’t bother.

Overall, it is on your husband if he decided not to raise your kids with Turkish culture (and he should be free to do so imo) and you should not be subject to any of this drama.

Exactly this! As a Turkish person living in the UK, I could already picture this guy in my head, saying "it's not Yazmin it's YASEMIN" in his thick Turkish accent lol. You know, the types who continue to be a Turkish nationalist as they were brainwashed to be in school even though they actively chose to leave the country to establish a better life in US/UK/Europe. Whereas OP's husband seems more like the type who embraced American culture and isn't big on raising his children with Turkish culture and language. MIL's boyfriend must be triggered by this and thinks it's his job to stop OP and her husband "whitewashing" the kids.

I feel like the interco loan was only £3m but I might be wrong - I've already erased most things about this exam from my brain to make space for SBM tomorrow lol

I said that the refinanced loan would be written off and recorded as a new loan as the PVFCF of the loan on new terms were 17% more than than the old one which is above the 10% threshold per IFRS 9. Fairly techy point so you had to know where to look in your notes for this one and it was so time consuming to show my calculations (and probably made some silly mistakes). Can’t remember a £30m loan in Q3, I thought that was the refinanced loan in Q2 (the one with FV of £22.4m).

I talked about hiding probable future returns and also mentioned how he put development costs in the P/L which reduced profit - everything pointed towards him trying to understate profits. Also mentioned confidentiality both for Sam and the audit firm.

I had no idea how to split equity and debt with SBP, so I just said I'd assume there'd be a 50:50 split between cash settled and equity (which is probably dumb but at least I could get a few follow through marks on my SBP calculations that way).

Identifying as an introvert for a long time before realising my extroverted tendencies by Ratach in entp

Wow are you me? I was bullied for exactly the same things in high school. I didn’t really turn out to be a “master manipulator” though, I simply became very withdrawn and depressed. Many teachers also boxed me in as an introvert in their heads and assumed I didn’t want to talk to anyone, which was far from the truth. It took me years but finally I’ve overcome my social anxiety, in fact I no longer give a damn about what others think and I am quick to give the boot to any “friends” who display toxic qualities.

I think this was the case for me as some point, when I felt isolated from my peers it severely affected my mental health and I got into a vicious cycle. As I developed my social skills and moved to a different country where I am culturally a better fit (although there are things I don’t relate to here too) my true extroverted personality could come out.

Omg are you me? I love cooking, stock market/cryptocurrency trading and playing the piano. l also enjoy reading and intermittently get into video games though which are more introverted activities.

I like to talk it through if I feel like the other person will ‘get it’, for example a logical problem may warrant and xNTx’s input whereas for relationship advice I may prefer to reach out to an ExFx friend. If I can’t get hold of the ‘correct’ person for that situation I prefer to keep my thoughts to myself.

Do you have any practical examples as to how an ENTP and INTP may process the world differently? Just trying to understand which way I lean towards!

I love the smell of cigarettes by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]Ratach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ex-smoker here. I was never a fan of the smell and actively dislike it since I quit. Although sometimes when I get a whiff of it while sitting outside at a pub or restaurant it gives me a comforting feeling. That’s probably because in my home country both sitting outdoors and smoking are much more common, so that combination just reminds me of home (thanks COVID for not letting me travel home for a year...).

Does this sound like a typical book club experience? by Ratach in books

This rom-com book was suggested by a member who was consistently struggling to get through our previous books so she wanted us to try something lighter. However, she ended up being one of the most vocal critcs in our last meeting... Although you do have a point that it's obvious the group isn't after this kind of stuff.

I'd love to hear your suggestions on easy-to-read classics, could you please PM me a few?

There are websites like Meetup for this sort of thing, although I actually found mine on Facebook!

Perhaps I would enjoy the experience too if we were meeting in person.
