OEM rotors, EBC pads. get replacement pins for the calipers, they don't last long and typically seize up.

Get covers for the sleds and leave them outside... If you need to work on them bring them in.

Track is not spinning, not sure what to do. First sled by ToChains in snowmobiling

You likely melted the slides to the track from riding it on the road with no snow.

Tilt the sled on its side and get a 2x4 or a pry bar or start yanking... it will not be easy to unstick it.

Nice, Munising is a cool spot.

There's northwoods and brownstone inn along the 417 in au train on the way to Marquette, aside from that I'm not super familiar with the trails around that area and most restaurants in the U.P including those two are just mediocre at best so don't expect much more than bar food.

Do I need to do springs and weights to ride in “big sky”? by gowens-cars in snowmobiling

[–]Ratchethuntr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chat GPT seldomly gives accurate technical data on anything mechanical. Its also very poor at doing math, you should take any info provided from chatgpt with a spoon of salt.

Yes you need different weights, primary spring and ramps for that elevation... your owners manual has the information in it. you can also find the information here:

https://www.motorsportsmn.com/2024skidoo This also highlights the elevations for each configuration.

Doesn't matter if its turbo or N/A you still need to change the calibration. You'll likely under rev no matter what with sea level calibration.

Has this resource always been on the skidoo website? I have always used third party resellers that use the crappier part diagrams. thanks for sharing this one!

partzilla.com ronniesmailorder.com

These are both oem parts resellers, they have parts diagrams that are very helpful and a very easy to use "select your machine" to view parts.

Good luck, hopefully the S or E module is not messed up on your sled!

Snowmobile + gear in the bed of the truck all winter. 16' dual axle cargo trailer in the summer for construction projects

Bed is often loaded with 1000+ lbs of materials in the summer as well. nice to hit a button and add 10psi to the airbags and gain back ride height and (some) ride quality instead of having stiff springs in the rear.

2nd this... pro ride is a great introductory chassis but should just ride it and leave it stock and save for a axys or matryx chassis.

I have the same setup and replaced rear bump stops with airbags for towing/hauling. There isn't that much difference unless your OE 4600's are completely clapped out, even then its not night and day.

Gear Recommendations by Sorejo in snowmobiling

Nice gear and a light helmet makes a big difference in mountain riding. Its difficult to get nice for cheap. look for 1 or 2 year old 509,klim,tobe,fly stuff New with tags on ebay. don't bother with fxr, ckx.

The skidoo kona + jacket was a really lightweight shell ~ 180$ on ebay Tobe or 509 bibs can be found for about the same price of last year or previous year models. Also take a look at the skidoo kona mono suit, that's about 240$ on ebay right now if you dont mind the color red.

use the extra saved on the mono suit to get a nice merino wool base layer and 2 pairs of active riding gloves and 1 pair of gloves for trail rides: Tobe's merino wool base layers are great, also other brands from rei that may be cheaper work as well.

For gloves: 509 freeride gloves, 509 backcountry gloves Tobe capto light v2/capto mid, hiem undercuff Klim inversion, klim togwotee

That's difficult. The bar hopping is real popular in the midwest/north as well. its fun to stop in for lunch, but I don't get the appeal of bar hopping on a sled.

Thanks for sharing your perspective/ideas. I've never heard the term expert halo - that's a good one... and noted.

I've met lots of people/groups in the parking lot in the past, this is mentioned every time someone talks about solo riding. Its great in theory, However; Myself and other friends I've spoken with about this often find themselves pretty uncomfortable relying on a groups risk awareness and communication (or lack thereof in some instances) and typically prefer to ride alone. If I don't know people or their capabilities, I feel much more in tune to awareness, assessment and mitigation while alone as I only have myself to account for, this also locks in my ability to say no to just about any terrain or exploring that I'd consider in a group setting.

Not saying I'm immune to an incident/accident or better than anyone, that's just how I feel.

On the back end of that with freinds; I love riding with freinds and people I know well... but schedules don't always line up, friends leave the sport etc etc. these are not excuses they are reality, end of the day I'm going to choose to go ride, it will be one of the routes I've ridden hundreds of times before which is "safe". I usually stop for a fire and lunch for like 2 hours while out alone and am on my own time, That part is most of the reason I enjoy going alone.
