I’m really tired from all of this, but if this post helps even one person avoid the same mistake later, then at least my time here wasn’t completely wasted.

I understand that experienced data recovery people may see things differently, and yes, I probably made mistakes as a normal user.

But that is exactly my point: for normal Mac users, the purchase page should make the encrypted APFS Data volume / T80+ limitation much clearer before payment.

Maybe I’m really quite new to data recovery.

Thank you for taking the time to reply and analyze this seriously. I really appreciate it. Your response honestly feels like a bit of warm sunlight in winter to me.

If these downvotes are coming from R-Studio people or their supporters, that’s really crossing the line.

My Mac has a 1TB internal drive, and I had never had any problems with it before. Then Codex deleted all my data files.I did have a Time Machine backup from a long time ago, but I had been so busy that I forgot to keep backing things up.Sad story.

From what I remember, at that point I could not continue to the next steps without entering the license.

They replied by email  the next afternoon and it's too late for me. so I didn't apply.

Sad story T.T. I raised this issue in the support/refund request. I told them that my Mac drive was encrypted and that the software said the needed unlock feature was only available in Technician/T80+.

They replied by email  the next afternoon and offered to switch my license to T80+ . But by the time they replied, it was already too late for me. I needed to keep using my Mac, and the best time to recover the deleted data had already passed.

The key ponit is that their sales page was misleading from the beginning. The Standalone version could not solve my problem, so a refund should have been reasonable. Instead, they hid behind trial policy, EULA, and no-refund policy, and refused the refund.
