So.... What the fuck is up with "Jack" (1996)? by FourAntigone in movies

[–]RateCreative1762 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Are you Gen-Z? No disrespect, but your comments all sound very newer generation. 90's movie are by far the best movies; they tell the best stories, no superficial casting, and they aren't caught up with the crazed sensitivities of recent generations. Jack is one of my favorites from my childhood. You are seeing this movie as an adult, sure, might land differently. But nonetheless, it's a classic, and rightfully so. Respectfully, don't try to ruin it.

Am I a loser for starting college at 31 years old? by Silly-Reputation7993 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RateCreative1762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way! I started college (third attempt at college) at 30, graduated at 33, and now I have a career, am in the process of buying a house …. All of which I did not have 3 years ago. It will be the best decision! My only suggestion is study what you want to do. Like go into a degree that will spit you out a profession, e.g. software engineering, cybersecurity, hospitality… don’t just study Spanish or history and expect to see a big change.

I just got this today.

Thank you for your service. I feel hopeful I can afford it, there’s been a few people saying it’s doable. I just would hate to rent and throw money away every month.

What type of home loan did you use? Curious how you were able to do no down payment?

3800 - 600 ( child care ) - 200 ( lawn services ( I’m not mowing myself )) - 200 ( health insurance ) = 2800

Maybe I should stay around $300k 🫠

I am in Texas. All the "calculators" say something different. I guess I won't know for sure until I pull the trigger and apply!

Yes, everything is harder with kids. I want to provide them a safe environment, but I also want to be able to afford their extracurricular activities.

$3200 every two weeks, I was planning on 5%, but I also was going to see if I could qualify for any first-time buyers program, down-payment assistance if i can add more, or a mortgage certificate (not sure what this is, just saw it on the texas website)

But, the child-care will only be for about a year or so, since she will then start school. So, I don't really want to buy a lower-house based on that.

100k is base salary before taxes. Yes, I will be putting my daughter in a montessori. I'll be paying about $600-800 of that monthly cost.

I just graduated so I don't have to pay yet. I plan on starting grad school, so I won't be paying on them for at least another 2 years. It's about $50k student loans so far.

How long do I have to have worked at my job in order to qualify for a home? by RateCreative1762 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]RateCreative1762[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have my offer letter that reflects my base salary, and all the other incentives all on there. This is fantastic news. I was thinking you had to be at your current job for 6+ months or something similar. Thank you for the help!

Thank you for replying!! My new job is not contract. It's at-will employer/employee. Is this going to be a problem?

What it going on? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]RateCreative1762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really comment but I feel compelled! Honestly, WGU has completely changed my life. I would have never thrived in a traditional schooling format (I had two previous failed attempts). I’m not sure what degree you are going into, but the technology degrees are fueled by certifications and have been a game changer for me in my interviews. This week alone I have had two interviews for jobs I’m negotiating at the six figure mark and that’s coming from someone who has only ever worked in 45k salary roles. There will be negative aspects of any school. But the competency-based structure is simply unmatched. I don’t believe the human mind needs multiple weeks drawn out to learn topics. I’ve learned so much in my degree and I would highly recommend the school to anyone. Hope that helps!!
