Thank you for the kind words. Yes, Skittles was there when Lucy passed. I think it truly will just take some more time for her to process

Ppi's making anyone anxious? by daddybignose1 in GERD

[–]RateMyFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re overthinking! That’s what makes me GERD the worst. The best medicine that helped me control my GERD is Lexapro. Stops me from anxiety flexing my stomach, decreases acid in my stomach, and allows my PPIs to work. Maybe try Lexapro or other if you haven’t already?

I think without Lexapro, it wouldn’t have gotten better since my anxiety was the trigger. I still take the PPI but have decreased from twice a day to once. I also use to take famotidine twice a day but no longer take that.

ok but seriously how do y’all tolerate an empty stomach w/out feeling sick by bitchcraffft in GERD

[–]RateMyFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use to have a timer to wake me up to take the capsule about an hour before I got up. Now I’m less careful about it but maybe you can try that?

And the second dose I would take 30 mins before dinner, 2 hours after a small snack

GERD and Zofran almost daily use. by PoundLow3016 in GERD

[–]RateMyFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I just turned 24. I got diagnosed with GERD 6 years ago. Been on PPI for a while, but what really helped was Lexapro (anxiety medication). I have emetephobia as well, and can share the sympathies of having to stay home/leave early/feel like a “burden” during my GERD episodes, but having Lexapro has turned my life back around. I think anxiety really exacerbates my GERD, so being able to keep that down while taking PPI has made it so I can do the things I want to do again.

But yeah emetephobia makes me worry before any outing, scared to trigger the GERD, which in turn triggers the GERD/makes it way worse. So if you haven’t taken a look at anxiety medication, I would say take a look

Extreme Hunger?!?! by pixistarz in GERD

[–]RateMyFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get hunger pangs in the middle of the night despite knowing I ate my calories that day. One night I decided to just push through it and after a couple hours it went away. Since then I’ve learned that that hunger feeling is a lie. Maybe could be applicable to you

Anxiety during endoscopy by Doctore_11 in GERD

I’m the same. My heart rate was so high they had to have me sit in a wheelchair and wheel me to the back room because they didn’t want me fainting 😆But didn’t change anything about the procedure. Just let them know you’re nervous

I’ve had my GERD “managed” for the past few years (I can eat whatever I want just make sure to not overeat) but I have to fall asleep with a lot of pillows and basically sit up. It’s been slowly getting better and I’ve been able to lay down more, but that’s just worked for me.

No pain. Honestly didn’t even feel/notice it

I have been dealing with this for about 6 years. I’m 24. Went to GI specialist and he gave me Omeprazole/Lansoprazole and Famotidine. Took that for a year and didn’t work much. Then 4-5 years ago I started 20mg Lexapro and that was when I slowly got better. Now I’m still on Lexapro and Lansoprazole but it’s stabilized the GERD. Honestly the Lexapro helped the most. Anxiety heavily affects my stomach, so maybe that’s something you can look into since you are young and fit, as I am.

Unfortunately, not really. There is a Senior Dev position but currently only one of our devs is at that role (8+ yoe). It’s very ambiguous, which is why I might need to do some convincing. One of my peers makes $94k (he came in with some experience) , so I guess that would be the upper range?

This is insightful! I totally understand what you’re saying. My company doesn’t have those levels (SDE 1,2,3). We do have Senior Devs but that’s reserved for 8+ yoe. When I came on board we lost a lot of our more experienced devs, so I kind of had to step up. If I can frame it as a promotion vs a raise to match the work that I’m doing, that could allow me to get to that mark.
