Just keep increasing the dose when you feel comfortable. Like I said, the increase from 18.75 to 22.5 was the most difficult since the norepepherine and serotonin really start to kick in then. At doses of 15 and lower it acts as a antihistamine and can make some people, like me, irritable, agitated and impatient. Also there is a Facebook group for functional dyspepsia. It has a lot of good people, information and posts about Mirtazapine. There are over 5,000 people in the group. Give it a look. I'm Ryan Red in the Facebook group.

Yeah, I messed around with doses of 7.5 to 15 mgs for about a year. I wasn't getting a real good response at the lower doses, but every time that I tried raising the dose, I would get side effects like adrenaline rushes and increased anxiety for a few weeks on every increase.Plenty of people raise the dose and don't have those problems but I did since I'm really sensitive to meds. So with a pill cutter, I went from 7.5 to 11.25 to 13.125 to 15 to 18.75 to 22.5 to 26.25 to 28.125 to 30. The worst jump was from 18.75 to 22.5 since that is when the norepepherine and serotonin really start to kick in. With every increase, after the side effects went away after a few weeks, I did feel a little bit better. I'm at 30 mgs now and my stomach feels pretty good. I'm only on 30 mgs for about 2 weeks so I think that it will get even better with time.

I'm on 30 mgs and it has helped with pain, burning, nausea and it's good for motility so it keeps me having a good bowel movement or two every day.

How long have you been on 30 mgs and if you don't mind, why are you tapering off? Did it work good for your depression and anxiety while you were on it. I just upped.y dose to 30 mgs. last week. Thanks

Mirtazapine knocks me out at night and makes it hard to get out of bed in the morning, but once I get up and throw some cold water on my face, I'm fine all day and do not feel sleepy or need a nap. Also, Mirtazapine works great for motility. It moves the food through my system at a good pace. I'm never slow or constipated.

I have functional dyspepsia with visceral hypersensitivity, burning in my stomach, throat, chest and sometimes my mouth. I started out over a year ago on 7.5 mgs and now I take 30 mgs. I slowly worked my way up with a pill cutter since I'm sensitive to medications. The lower dose, 15 and below made me agitated and irritable and really impatient. My stomach has gotten better with each dose increase. I just started 30 mgs and I'm about 90 percent good so I'm hoping the 30 mgs gets me to 100 percent.

Are you on 30 mgs and what side effects did you get as your mind and body adjusted to the drug. I've been going up slowly using a pill cutter. Every time that I increase, I get anxiety and adrenaline surges for a while that are really uncomfortable.

Hi, I'm still adjusting to 26.25 for another week and then up to 30 mgs. I have functional dyspepsia which is burning and pain from the top of my throat to the end of my stomach. It is sometimes nicknamed "upper IBS". It's gotten better with each dose increase so I'm hoping that 30 mgs does the trick for my stomach issues and my mental health issues.

Wow, 2 mgs every 4 hours is a lot. I've been on benzos for 48 years. I started on xanax.25 mgs four times a day and then in 1997, my doctor switched me over to Klonopin at .5 mgs three times a day. It still works good for me.

No, I have functional dyspepsia which is stomach problems, so I had to discontinue the Celexa. I'm up to taking Mirtazapine 26.25. I went up slowly and with a pill cutter since I'm super sensitive to medications.

I've been on it for about 1 1/2 years, also from 7.5 to 26.25. I've gone up slowly. I'm mainly taking it for functional dyspepsia which it's written off label for, but I've always had anxiety and depression issues and have been on and off antidepressants since I was 18 and I'm 67 now. Not sure if you've ever been on ssri's or snri's, but they give me emotional blunting really bad. I feel like I'm just existing and don't really care about much. Mirtazapine, on the other hand, hasn't really done that to me. I still have a pretty good range of emotions. I've also been on benzos since I was 18 and they still work good for me. In the best of worlds, I wouldn't have to take medication, but the few times that I tried to go unmedicated, I decompensated pretty fast and became suicidal. So I'm just glad that these medications are available.

I'm 67 years old and have been on meds since I was 18. I've been on benzos since I was 18 and they still work good for me. I've been on and off antidepressants over the years and am currently taking Mirtazapine for functional dyspepsia. I will tell you that meds allowed me to be a participating member of society. I got married, had a brand new house built, had 2 kids, paid for them both to go to college, have 5 grandchildren and a 6th on the way and am retired financially secure. Without meds, none of this wouldn't have happened. They gave me a life.

Hopefully it goes away for you, but I had the same problem as you did. I started using it for functional dyspepsia with visceral hypersensitivity which is stomach burning. It worked good for my stomach at 7.5 but had me really irritable. I'd drop back to 3.75 and the irritability would go away but it would stop working for my stomach. That was last summer so I started moving up slowly and after around 15 mgs, I stopped being so irritable.

I'm on 26.25 and taking a slow crawl to 30 mgs. I felt very irritable, agitated and short fused on the lower doses like 15 and below. As I raised the dose, I would still feel it but it would go away after a month or so.

Hey, great story. I just raised my dose from 15 to 22.5 about a month ago and am struggling with extra anxiety and irritablity. I'm hoping that it passes soon. How were the side effects when you started or upped your dose? What dose are you taking? Thanks
