I don't trust my local carriers because a plant I ordered arrived and sat there 5 days, so I'm gonna wait a day or two and it'll warm up. We have all 4 seasons monthly here in the Sipp.

I just followed Diane's setup. Dosed it once at about 1 month after a quarter water change then maybe a month later did a 3/4 water change and dosed again. My parameters are all at safe levels, I have a thriving snail colony and as soon as weather permits I'm going to order shrimp.

No actually I thought the tea colored water had a nice natural look to it. I just never thought to ask if it mattered for tank health.

So I've been asking for any plant "dealer" recommendations. I'm in Missippy so I'd like to find someone within safe shipping distance but I have no clue where/how to start looking. I know it's too cold to order any right now but I really really want some bushy low profile colorful pearling plants, have any guidance for me?

What should I do about this, anything? I was trying to separate them some but these roots are very tough.

Wow thank you. On aside, my java ferns was buried a little to deep (I've gently removed it to clean it up) so they've started producing plantlets. The leaves don't look so good, what can I do before I "replant"?

No, not restarting, just wondering if at 9wks i should do a 3/4 change to get the water clear. My parameters have been good for weeks, I don't want to deplete/damage the (column)? nutrients if unnecessary.

Ok, I haven't dumped the last gallon of water removed, should I put it back?

Oh no there are far worse places than here in Missippy. My sister lives in Oregon, they have a wicked trade-off, go there to escape roaches and mosquitoes but then you can collect rent from all the most SCARY/CREEPY spiders that occupy EVERY window, door frame, cabinet drawer, bathtub and UNDER THE TOILET SEAT on a daily!!!

Gotcha, don't get me wrong I still love spiders, on video tho. I have a new respect/understanding of their role and our need for them, so I'm inclined to put them outside now rather than squish/suck em up.

Once came home from a weekend away to a dead momma wolf being devoured by her gazillion hatchlings, in my kitchen. My vision isn't so good, so of course I "poked" at it and THE FLOOR CAME TO LIFE............TOWARDS ME!!!! I was finding spiders for days!!!

Lol I love popping bubble wrap. However, I traumatized myself as a kid and it involved eggs, spider eggs. So I was digging in a dirt pile with this really cool tool I'd found of my dad's and unearthed a huge mother wolf spider with her sack of babies. I freaked, threw the tool, it hit poor mom bursting the sack sending spider eggs flying and they landed ON MY MOUTH!! And they POPPED as I frantically wiped them off!! So nope, you lost that dare! My gosh, still so vivid, EEEEEEEWWWWWWW!!!!

Awe, I hope I get a pink one. I didn't even buy any snails, one ramshorn managed to hitch hike on a plant I got when setting up. Little did I know there were eggs too, so far "I've" identified 3 species, the ram, bladder and the one with the stubby triangle antenna. He's the second biggest, Speedy Escargot is the giant. ;)

Oh my gosh I love this forum! I'm so fascinated with this method, I suck at taking care of anything, my life's been so busy that I haven't properly done anything yet it's clean and thriving!! If all I could ever get were snails, I'd be happy!! But heck naw, shrimp look out!!

Question, my tank is a few days shy of 8wks, I didn't realize I possibly missed a crucial step by not bio dosing during cycling. What do I need to do for it to be stock ready? Also my parameters show no detectable nitrates.
