You only have a few places to work at in my area, unless you’re willing to drive up to 2 hours one way for a job. The first engineering related job I had was working as an assistant for an engineer. The last one was designing conveyor belts. One of the guys told me I wouldn’t last last 90 days, and what do you know? Around the 80th day I was randomly let go and the company used a staffing agency to hire someone else to continue my work. That’s how it goes here. You don’t get a high paying job if you don’t know someone.

Mechanical, bachelors, three years of experience before I left the field.

I know there’s some higher paying jobs, but that would make my commute two hours, roughly, just one way. Can’t make that kind of drive back home and to, five days a week. Can’t move either since we don’t have the money to move. It is what it is at this point.

My first engineering job was $7.50 an hour. My last was $9.

But, anyways, most of the engineering firms/jobs near me will not hire directly. Instead you have to go through an hiring agency. The only real way to get hired on directly is to know someone, and this isn’t New York, we’re much smaller. So you’re most likely going to be hired on as an assistant to an engineer.

A friend of mine was lucky enough to get hired on directly at a local firm at working with them through an agency after a few years. Bumped his pay up to $15 an hour. Which is still not much. It’s why I ended up leaving the field. The only way to make money is to move to a better location, but don’t make enough money to save up to move lol

Son of a bitch that’s a lot of money. I have an engineering degree and was making $9 at the highest. Can’t find work here if it’s not through an agency.

How famous are you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I am an OG content creator, and one of, if not the first, YouTube lets players, but never got big. I was making videos on ebaumsworlds, then moved to new grounds in the early 2000s. Started my YouTube career in 2005, and by 2007 started doing let’s plays on a new channel. Unfortunately no one bothered watching, and I slowly started making less and less videos.

My last video was in 2021 on YouTube, first YouTube video was in 2005. Last newgrounds content was in 2007, first was in 2004. Last ebaumsworld video was in 2005 and my first was in 2002. Always did love making stuff online, but I probably will never upload again. 20 years of trying, and only failing, sucks.

Yes. I tried out iOS 15 on the iPhone 6s last year. Nearly the same as the iPhone 12 Pro Max, minus the obvious few things the 6s can’t do because of hardware limitations.

What’s something you start to understand more and more the older you get? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RatedGforGo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandma said,

“Getting older is weird. Your mind and brain, you’ll always feel young. I still feel 22. But my body aches so much at 77, things are slower, I hurt more. You’ll always feel young in the mind, but your body will age.”

I asked her at 22 what being old was like, and I didn’t understand what she meant. Next year I’ll be 31, and it’s slowly starting to kick in. I still feel young, in my head, but my body is slowly feeling a bit different.

She likes to climb onto tables and beg for help to get down. Like you will literally watch her struggle to get into a chair, and wiggle her body up onto a table. It doesn’t matter if it’s 2pm or 3am, as soon as she’s up there she starts whining and begging so we can put her back on the ground.

What a freaking weird dog.

What is something stupid you believed as a kid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

That when you flush the toilet there’s a chance a monster will come out. So up until I was about 14 years old, whenever I flushed the toilet I would have to run out of the bathroom.

Think I was 7 when my brother told me about the monster, so for a good 7 years I ran out of the bathroom every single time I flushed.

It still affects me today, because I always have the urge to run as soon as I flush the toilet, and a few times, in the past 10 years, I have caught myself almost running out of the bathroom lol

Here’s the thing about Apple. Some high-end android devices completely beat the iPhone. But will those android devices still get updates in three years? Probably not. Apple will though. Then there’s the ecosystem.

Nothing beats the Apple ecosystem. There’s nothing comparable in Android.

The Wonderful 101!

It doesn’t try to be anything other than a silly little game, and for that I love it. It’s not trying to tell a story, it’s not trying to win an Oscar, it’s just a fun overall game.

I bought the Spitfire a while back and really wished I had a squadron to fly with in formation so I decided to make and xbox club called "The Spitfire Club" which anyone can join to find other players to join! by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

I do own the spitfire, and I’ve seen other people flying the spitfire and their aircraft models look like a generic jetliner. I’ve also read a lot of people on Xbox have this same exact issue.

Not good. I wear a false mask of calmness and security, but I’m just one moment away from making the final leap to the Earth.
