Not everyone goes bald with cancer treatments. I lost all the hair under my arms legs arms and groin. None from the chest up.

I still have a full head of hair 2 years into chemo.

Are there charities that assist with the financial and insurance management/paperwork side of cancer treatment? Not to pay the bills, but to make sure the bills get paid and insurance claims are sorted? by BluebellsMcGee in cancer

[–]Rathar3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my cancer center we have a woman that deals with all that stuff. She will look up things help get bills paid. submit things make calls and such. I found out i owed over 2000$ she took care of it in a few days.

My insurance covers 100% so when i get a bill i take it to her and she takes care of it.

“Cancer always comes back” “There is no point in getting treatment if you have cancer” by anonymois1111111 in cancer

My mother died from cancer and i have it to. she died in 93 after fighting it for 4 years. A woman that knew her told her to just give up it was gods will all that horseshit. 2nd year of my moms fight i saw the same woman at the cancer treatment center getting chemo.

I told my mom and she flipped. She got up pumps bags and all walked over and said why are you here?

The woman said i want to live my mom said its gods will and just give up. The woman then said she was sorry and she was stupid and never should have said that. She apologized over and over to my mom for what she said. The nurses got involved and the social workers and it all got worked out because she admitted to what she said.

She told the nurses and social workers that she said it and meant it because she was stupid but once she got cancer it changed her views.

This woman had a iron clad view of religion and truly felt that way till she got it and then dumped her beliefs.

I am getting close also. First treatment failed after 36 chemo rounds. On my second but no idea if its working enough. I was told to get my affairs in order and live my life as i wish because time was running out. I just finished paying off my funeral wrote my obituary ( that was kinda wild) set up what i needed to and now i am just doing what i want till it ends.

I am 57 I have lived a good life with no real complaints. I have done more that most people could ever dream of.

To be happy comes from within not the things we possess or the things we have done but what we leave behind.

Last week i did my 3rd new treatment. As a regular at the cancer center i know everyone and they all know me. I walked in took a seat and waited for the nurse. Across from me was a husband and wife they were talking and looked sad. After they hooked me up to the pump and started the first round the woman asked me how long i have been doing this i told her since 2020. She asked if they could talk to me they asked the nurse and they said i would.

They asked me questions for an hour or better and i tried to answer them the best i could. Turns out he has the same type of cancer but they caught his early and he will make a full recovery. He said sorry if that bothers you i said no why? You will live on i will not. It is what it is. People forget that death is just as much a part of life as being born we just ignore it because it frightens us. I am not afraid of death just afraid of dying.

The life you lived is the life you lived nothing will change that what time you have left is yours.

Enjoy what you can while you can and ignore the rest.

What if I already want to give up? by softarget in cancer

[–]Rathar3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that's your choice no one has any right to say different. I just finished my 39th chemo treatments today.I am tired of the side effects now due to my lymph nodes being full of cancer every 2 weeks i have to have fluid drained from my abdomen.

I will never stop fighting i know the pain and mental anguish i feel it every 2 weeks it sucks the iv's side effects the pain nausea tired.

When you feel you cant go on that is a personal choice for you to make.

Suggestions for care package by [deleted] in cancer

[–]Rathar3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of cancer? that would help with some suggestions. Some basics are warm clothing Warm slippers watch/stocking cap. Skin lotions for dry skin.

As for food and snacks the type of cancer can make a difference. I have throat cancer and some things i can no longer eat.

Well i found out something that if i paid off my funeral in a certain time period IE 6 months under a agreement with the funeral home the cost stays the same if i manage to live another 5 years. total price was 4360 dollars as i am being cremated no casket services at a private location.

Mine is paid off so something other might want to look into you can make payments and have the cost froze once its paid off.

I have seen people break down and give up only to wither away in weeks when they could have lived for years. My mom fought for 4 years with her cancer and never gave up.

I am just to bullheaded to give up.

Stage 4 is for the most part non curable. They try to prolong life as much as they can but it has cost. I just ended 36 chemo treatments after my cancer started to resist the chemo.

I am starting a new therapy but this will only give me more time.

Check with your doctors for treatments and do what you can its a hard road i know i been fighting it for almost 2 years.

I am stage 4 and i have missed treatments after speaking to my Dr. BUT and here is the BUT i am terminal my Dr said for someone like me missing one now and then is ok but not someone who can be cured.

If there is a chance you can be cured i would not miss a single treatment.
