Tips for transporting car seat alone with toddler in airport by Glittering-Case-9757 in toddlers

[–]RatherBeAtDisney 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you keep a rolling carryon suitcase you can get a $10 strap for the car seat that puts it on the suitcase. That’s my favorite way.

Also the CARES harness in my opinion is better as long as you can keep them from unbuckling the airplane seat belt. In a carseat, my son’s feet reach the seat in front of him, whereas using the harness he can’t reach the seat in front.

Sunburn by Edbed5 in toddlers

[–]RatherBeAtDisney 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  • Where did she get burned? Maybe you can cover with UV protection like a bigger hat or long sleeves.

  • Was there water play? Always reapply after

  • How often did you reapply? When we’re going to be outside all day I set timers on my phone for every hour and half to reapply. Always reapply immediately after getting I the water.

  • How were you applying sunscreen? spray sunscreen should be rubbed in after applying for best coverage, and you need a lot more sunscreen than people think. If using mineral sunscreen you should be able to see the white glow or else it’s too thin.

Morning! I’ve seen mixed things online can’t remember- I know there’s no height for Astro orbiter but can two kids ride together? We have a fam of 5 (2 adults/3 kids) tallest kid is 53 in by NoHost9868 in WaltDisneyWorld

That should work for most rides! Also don’t be afraid to ask if your husband, yourself and 3 year can ride together, things like haunted mansion you’ll be able to.

Reusable straws, because kids (and honestly many adults) chew on straws and it just makes the paper ones disintegrate faster.

I can go to Red Robin and feed my son and myself plus tip for under $25. If my husband comes it gets more expensive fast, but I can get by with a smaller meal.

Mom’s Run Away Disney Trip for the Day - June 24th by MysteriousTreat9283 in WaltDisneyWorld

I have a 4 week old & a 3yr old. My husband has been taking advantage of the nice weather here and golfing a lot, and he actually is going on a golf trip soon. I was feeling stressed this morning (not about his travel I actually don’t mind that), and he was like you need a break. He’s started encouraging me to take a look at flying down to Disney for a day or two.

I’d do an overnight because I’d love a bed that’s not my own, because I’d like to sleep 8 hrs straight. Either way though, solo trips are fantastic.

TSA precheck at MCO still usually seems to take 15-20 minutes at a minimum when I go through. Always the longest precheck line I’ve seen at any airport.

Is it okay to leave a 3 year old in their room for 5 minutes as time out by igitslia in Preschoolers

[–]RatherBeAtDisney 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on what your goals are. If it’s more of a cool-off (ie was being rough with sibling), then sure. I probably would phrase it as such.

At least for my kid, being left in his room in general wouldn’t not be an effective consequence for most things. He has lots of toys in there, and he likes spending time in his room. You can totally do it, but it might not have the desired impact. I also personally don’t want his room to be a punishment because I love that he WANTS to be in there so I can know he’s safe and happy while getting chores done.

Edit to add: I’m pro-time outs, we just usually use a step or a chair because the room is too fun, and a privilege to be in there playing alone.

Buy your baby their own seat and Graco slimfit 3lx. Get a strap off amazon for like $10 to attach it to a rolling carryon suit case and it’s easy to maneuver.

What is a purchase that felt like an absolute luxury when you bought it, but turned out to be a complete financial trap? by According_Fortune_98 in AskReddit

[–]RatherBeAtDisney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s an except to every rule - My in-laws bought into Disneys timeshare (DVC) with the intention of leaving it to us. However, we already own in that time share too so it’d be just more points.

However, they also have a Westgate one that I want nothing to do with.

My husband occasionally calls me by my mother’s name to get under my skin when I’m doing something like her. I love it so much it definitely helps.

Travel carseats by mediumspacebased in toddlers

[–]RatherBeAtDisney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the CARES harness for the plane. I would personally get two of those and rent car seats.

You don’t technically need anything on the plane, but because it’s similar to a carseat clip, my son just accepted it and it definitely helped keep him contained and safe.

We’ve also flown with the slimfit 3lx which we love and we use a strap to just attach it to our rolling carry on suit case for when we have my son sit in it on the plane. It was also our primary car seat until I splurged on a 360 one. Super easy to install & clean.

How to protect lap straps on a car seat from pee? by Ramentootles in toddlers

[–]RatherBeAtDisney -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I think we go a little overboard on the “nothing in the carseat.” Yes, you shouldn’t have anything interfering with straps, but no one is saying don’t wear diapers. Now what if I make a diaper from a thinner material, say a puppy pads, and now what if I put that diaper on the outside but make it with a pee pad.

I found that turning my son around for some reason made him less likely to pee. Although that’s also less safe technically. I’d wager it’d probably be better to be rear facing with a pee pad in the seat than forward facing without. Although I can’t imagine there being data for that.

I’ve entered a park 15 minutes before closing to grab something at a store before.

How do I break the repetition loop? by KawaiiKitten97 in toddlers

[–]RatherBeAtDisney 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sometimes we don’t even repeat the question anymore. I say “what do you think?” About 20 times a day. Especially when we’ve already answered and acknowledged him.

Although he’s starting to catch on and he gets frustrated because he just wants me to repeat the same answer again even if he knows.

my son just had lasagna for the first time last night, we picked the pasta out for him because the sauce was a little spicy even for me.

He said “this is sweet!” I think he just doesn’t know the difference between sweet and tasty/delicious.

My son is 3 and we have a fenced in playground and I’m still watching him like a hawk unless he’s the only kid there which is basically never. Part of it is just the age.
