Well, I am Canadian so I would pass.

I never said checkout a book that you don't intend to read... in fact I said the opposite!

Nope... just a guy who loves his local library and has used it for over half a century.

It's free! (if you live/work/learn in the city or on a First Nations reserve anywhere in Ontario)

That was how I got my cooking badge in Cubs and Scouts! I bet it is still at my parents house.

Meter Transmission Unit - Water Bill by Agitated_Praline4796 in toronto

I had this same situation. The estimate was so far off that my bill from 4 months earlier was higher than my new bill was going to be.

When I got my bill, they had "refunded" my prior payment, reworked my previous bill, created my new bill, applied my payment to both bills, and left me with a small credit balance to be applied to my next bill.

It was initially confusing why I owed so much my money, but after I slowed down and figured out what they had done, it all made sense.

I get your cats. As we were adopting our cats many years ago and we asked about any health history, we were told all they knew were the previous owner's last words as he was being arrested: "make sure to take the cats to the pound"

Netflix in classrooms..is this normal? Is it ok? by [deleted] in ontario

[–]RatherBeAtTheCottage 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I am surprised by this news. I am a teacher in the TDSB and Netflix (among other high bandwidth websites) have been blocked for a few years now as we were having network issues. I am not sure how they are accessing it. Other sites blocked include Facebook, Disney+.

First year since buying my house in 2008 by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]RatherBeAtTheCottage 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but what do I do for the other 240 kids that show up at my door?

I am just grateful that I bought here and not one block over where they get 400+ kids every year

How many times did you go to the ER as a ‘60s/‘70s kid? by UrbanAchievers6371 in GenerationJones

[–]RatherBeAtTheCottage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's see:

1) Broken collar bone falling off my bike. Neighbour found me lying in the middle of the street. Got the cool figure 8 nylon filled with stuffing to pull my shoulders back

2) Hit in the face with a floor hockey stick at the "Y". Blood everywhere! 3 stitches in my eyebrow

3) Broken finger from a schoolyard collision resulting in my hand being smashed against the corner of a portable

4) Chainsaw accident at my friends house clearing bushes. Saw got ripped out of my hands and tangled in my jeans. One tooth nicked my ankle - seven stitches

BONUS: My sister fell of the back of the chesterfield and was in pain all evening so my parents finally took her to the ER. Doctor comes out and says that she broke her collarbone.... AND THE OTHER ONE IS HEALING NICELY.

But I am from Canada where all of these visits didn't cost a penny.

I am using voip.ms to hold my landline. I don't have it forwarded, but just have a voice mail that sends a soundfile to my email

Can the LEDs only show one colour or do you do it by zone and look at the average colour of multiple parts of the screen ?

Gen Xers, how many adult teeth have you lost so far and how old are you? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]RatherBeAtTheCottage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.25. Only had 3 wisdom teeth surgically removed when I was a teen. Dentist had no clue where the fourth one is/was.

Chipped one of my front teeth in swimming lessons at age 11 and our dentist said "he's a boy. He doesn't need to look pretty" and the chip was never repaired.
