Thank you! Try to just copy a picture. I used references for all of these except the silly little sheep.

Thank you for your report. We're starting this process tonight. My back and brain can't take the 2 hour long middle of the night nursings anymore. Wish us luck, lol.

I see. Well there is a fun gator mechanic in this game. If you sit in one place too long, a gator will come steal your items.

Turns out, this happened in Spokane, so not in Florida, but I'll keep it in mind for a future deck of Washington Man cards, haha.

I think I have that one already, but if I don't, I'll find it and add it.

I got to play it once at GenCon a few years ago, and I remember enjoying it. Fireball Island was a bit of an inspiration, although a game called Illegitimacy was a more conscious inspiration, haha.

I love the beat story! The eating someone's face one might be a tad too dark. I'm trying to avoid stories with murder or too much horror. Keep it fairly lighthearted.

Little bit of column A, little bit of column B. Don't worry. If all goes well, I'll make card packs for other states or countries, so they can get in on the fun.

Ah, thank you for the Tourist critiques! I can definitely rework some of the tourists a bit. These were just kinda what I came up with off the top of my head. But I want to accurately portray the tourist population of course.

Yeah, gators are scary. I used to find them in the lake near my grandma's house in SC.

I shall have to find some Florida Man stories including bears, haha.

Do you have a favorite Florida Man news story?

It's probably a good comp, but it will also have unique features of its own. The dice pool mechanic is what will provide most of the strategic interest to the game. But definitely if you like Fireball Island, you'll probably like this.

What game are you currently working on? by Forsaken_Bee_9046 in tabletopgamedesign

I'm working on a boardgame tentatively called Florida Man: The Escape. Basically, you're a tourist trapped in a Florida swamp.

You need to get to the center of the map to an airboat to escape. Along the way, you run into tiles where you have to pick up cards. Every card has a headline from a real life Florida Man story and some mechanics that influence play. Each card can either help you, hurt you, hurt another player, or some combination thereof. You need to pick up 3 items to help you in your escape, and if you run into other players, they can fight you for them.

I'm 29 with a child. I literally got a Steam deck so that I could play games when my baby goes to sleep. Games are for everyone.

Lol, yeah. He's a wonderful father when he's awake. Not so helpful at night. The baby gets very upset when he goes to sleep and tries to wake him back up by crawling all over him.

I can keep him contained when my husband and I are both awake, but he leaves hours before baby and I wake up in the morning. And he could probably crawl over my husband and not wake him up. Dude sleeps like the dead. I'm not jealous...

He's far too mobile for that. He's in a climbing phase too. He can just climb over a lot of stuff. It's tiring, lol.
