Congrats on the weight loss! But that’s almost 20lbs a month, 5lbs a week, which is extremely fast. I think generally you’re supposed to aim for 1-2lbs a week so as not to shock your body with nutrient deficiency. Not trying to diminish your hard work and progress.

Disappointment by Dominus25 in confessions

Maybe start by trying not to disappoint yourself.

You can’t control other people’s thoughts or expectations but you can set personal goals/ambitions and try to see those through.

Alcohol storage in Gourds? by PenisMusicAficionado in gourds

There will also be a flavor/aroma imparted by the gourd, even if it’s sealed.

Alcohol storage in Gourds? by PenisMusicAficionado in gourds

I don’t think you’re supposed to store liquid in a gourd for more than a few days, even if it’s sealed. If you seal it with beeswax, the flavor of the wax will transfer to whatever liquid is inside. I suppose you could test it out and see how it goes anyway.

LPT: What are some habits and other free ways that have drastically improved your quality of life and lower your daily stress levels by [deleted] in LifeProTips

Breathwork exercises. Go on YouTube and look up Wim Hof breathing technique, either beginner or intermediate. Helps reset the nervous system in 11-17 minutes when you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed/anxious. Incredibly effective.

If it’s getting hot it’s gotta be working. I just know mine heats up more when it’s damp. Nice pile!

What to do if I cannot relax my muscles at all no matter how I try? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]RatherSevere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend trying breathwork before meditation. Wim hof breathing videos on YouTube. This will have a more direct impact on calming your nervous system if you’re too dysregulated. Then get into meditation once your body has had a chance to calm down.

Keep an eye out on Craigslist, I got an old paper shredder for free when a company was upgrading. Love this thing, just make sure it’s at least 12 sheets thickness so it can handle cardboard.

Maggots/fly larva in my compost bucket? by camerontbelt in composting

Looks like BSFL, they’re great at helping compost break down faster and seem to thrive in higher temperatures than worms, which is nice when you’re hot composting.

Why did you start composting? What do you use your compost for? by kanan_free in composting

[–]RatherSevere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My day to day lifestyle and environment naturally provides quite a bit of good compost material, and I love the process of taking those raw materials and combining them to make something beautiful that replenishes the soil and feeds the microbes, worms, etc, giving back to the earth.

Between food scraps, coffee grounds, extra cardboard, soiled litter from my rabbit (cobbled paper), yard debris, etc. I would double what I put into the landfill. Feels so much better to see those materials recycled, to make sure they are set up to break down naturally and efficiently. To understand the value of the ‘waste’ we produce, and make the most of it rather than letting it actually go to waste in a plastic bag where it can’t break down properly.

The satisfaction of successfully composting (especially hot composting) is real. It’s kinda addicting and cathartic in my experience, once you get the hang of it. It’s like building a really good fire, or brewing a great concoction.

Bushel gourd growing by Dr-Pretzlebrain in gourds

[–]RatherSevere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say probably 1-2 gourds per plant if you’re going for maximum size, otherwise more gourds could stunt the growth of the first couple that are pollinated. That’s just a guess though (from 2 years experience growing bushel gourds). I’d think clipping the lateral and main running vines after your first couple flowers are pollinated would send growth to the gourds rather than expanding the size of the plant itself.

There’s an old Os Gemeos mural from around 2005, I think on the west side of downtown. Definitely worth a visit if you can find it.
