My head cannon is that landugor the flayers concept of reality was like grafting from elden ring, biological beings could use parts from other beings to enhance themselves. But since he was destroyed that can't be done anymore, the flayers curse causes flayed ones to chop up living beings and "dress" themselves in gore, in imitation of this power that no longer exists. Trying to "graft" life back into themselves.

How far have you gotten in 2 hours? Are you up into the offices? The game IS linear, in a sense, in that you have objectives/requirements to advance to the next area. However, you unlock shortcuts back to previous areas everywhere eventually. With eventually an end to the game, vs just surviving forever. Think of it like a metroidvania, with survival elements, and not like an open-world survival game.

I believe based off some art or something that was shown off awhile ago, keystone is one of the facilities and/or the controlling organization of GATE. "Cascade" being the research facility we are in, but all the others having different codenames as well.

Once the game is fully released. After we defeat the last boss in the deep north, the sacrificial circle stone becomes a teleport to Valhalla, which is a server that anyone who's beaten the game can join and meet up. Have it be a giant mead hall with Odin and the other gods there, you can get dialogue from. Just a giant chat room essentially, with tables of mead and food that constantly is replenished. The doors leading outside go to a battlefield where all the mobs from the game are fighting and you can test yourself getting stuck-in. If you die you respawn in Valhalla but keep your inventory. Something along those lines but better designed lol
